USB 3.0 Flash drive not working in 3.0 slot

Right guys, this one has me stuck.

I have a Verbatim usb 3.0 flash drive (16gb) Intermittently it's not recognised in ANY usb 3.0 slots on my PC. But it always works fine in usb 2.0. If i reboot sometimes it fixes it but this isnt a guaranteed fix.
Now i know it's not broken 3.0 ports because usb 2.0 hardware works fine in them!

My bios is the latest version too!
I HATE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

I have heard there are some problems with windows 8 and USB 3.0.

System:
SHUTTLE SZ77R5
8GB Samsung ram
HD7850 2GB
I5-3550 3.3GHZ
Win 8 64bit.

Id really appreciate your help guys

I would try updating your motherboard drivers and see if that helps and maybe try formatting the drive and see if that helps
