USB 3.0 Hub copying between external drives

If you have a powered USB 3.0 hub and you've USB 3.0 drives externals attached to it. But the PC/laptop is USB 2.0. If you copy files between the drives will it be at USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 speeds?

The PC has to process it so I would assume 2.0 speeds but hard to say for sure, try it.

The controller would be on the hd pcb and i assume the hub.

I don't have a 3.0 hub to try

It'll run at USB2 speed if that's all your PC supports.

USB2 as the data has to come via the PC's USB2 controller (host) than across the hub (which isn't a controller as such)

Yeah the PC's controller is always the host... Although not 100% sure Thunderbolt might have something slightly different...
