My PC has started behaving strangely recently, namely when it comes to reading external USB devices.
I have a Freecom USB hard drive and a Sony USB MP3 player which have worked without fault until a few weeks back, but not anymore.
If they're recognised at all (by any of the 6 USB ports on my PC) the devices will operate normally for a short time, then crash Windows entirely leaving it frozen until the device is removed. Other times, it just won't register anything having been plugged in at all.
Both these devices work without fault on my laptop, and neither required drivers to be installed when first used.
Oddly, my USB mouse works fine in all ports on the PC, so I'm kinda baffled. Can anyone shed any light on this? Are there USB/mobo drivers or updates I should be looking at?
Thanks guys
