Has anyone had the issue where you connect a USB3 HDD into a USB3 port with a USB3 cable after you have installed the USB3 drivers but have it only work at USB2 speeds :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

To make matters worse Windows keeps bringing a box up saying "you have a USB3 drive, you will get better performance if you plug it into a USB3 port" yeah, thanks Windows

BIOS is all set for USB3, it worked once btw

I had same with USb 2, USB2 drive, USb2 port, USB2 disk drive but said same your can go faster in a USB2 port.
I found if I booted with the device it would always be USB2 but once I had had that error message if I hot plugged it would always give the error message even though it had worked fine previsouly.
I think its something to do with spin up of the HDD. Could be way off the mark though

Apparently Windows 7 SP1 might include a generic "mass storage device" USB 3.0 driver, which might solve it. Probably a chipset driver issue or something though.

I did think that with the SATA3/USB3 combo but I am using the intel SATA2 ports as I don't like Marvel. The BIOS is just set for USB3.

Like I said, it did work once (and only once IIRC). Tried hot plug'n'play but it seems locked at USB2. Actually......now you mention chipset drivers, I'm wondering if it's ever since I updated to the intel chipset drivers which supported trim over raid. That would be around the time I bought the USB3 drive so may well have been the very next day.
