Use of indicators at an island?

I would indicate left after the first exit, but this isn't going to stop people pulling out in front of you, they're just idiots.

Hazard lights is the only option.

I would have started to indicate left as I was level with the "T" of "THEM" on your map OP.
I'd do this and this is what you should do afaik. As said though it's not going to stop people assuming you're turning left without indicating.

If it's anything like the most similar I encounter it's just a very busy roundabout so people will be waiting for any chance to go, they'll be peeved if they were expecting you to turn left and you didn't. They are obviously not expecting you to indicate straight on as that's not possible.

thats just idiotic - what really ginds my gears is people that just don't indicate at all when turning left on a roundabout you have to assume they are heading straight on - grr!

the thing is that people really can't use roundabouts generally. I've got 8 roundabouts on my commute and I regularly get people:

Sitting in the left lane to go right (and wondering why they get a blast of the horn for cutting up those going straight on).
People ignoring lane markings and going in a straight line through the roundabout.
People not indicating and turning off left ruining your chance of getting out.

GRRR

Simple fact of the matter is they shouldn't be pulling out at all. Even if you were turning left, I believe the highway code says that you should wait until the car has left the roundabout completely before pulling out, for examples just like this.

We have the same thing near me, but we also get people in the turn right lane trying to go straight across, then they wonder why I beep at them when they cut me up. People just don't/can't read.

Your doing nout wrong mate.

EDIT: Obviously if you are going straight on they can pull out after you, they don't have to wait then, I just meant they have to wait if you ewre turning off left.

they're muppets, ignore them

B@

is the simple truth..you are going straight on..no indication is required at any point on that roundabout

people should be giving way to traffic coming from the right..the only beef they could possibly have is people turning left and not indicating, thus not giving them a chance to get out at an earlier opportunity

they are retards and could have no complaints if they pulled out and you rammed straight into the side of them

Basically what I was trying to say, but I don't think I worded it quite as well lol.

Odd, I've never experienced this. Most people seem to know to give way to traffic already on the roundabout, indicating or not.

Well you must drive in some very well trained and polite areas.

Without fail, on my way to/from work I will have someone pull out on me at roundabouts. I'll even be indicating and headed toward my exit, yet, they see me approach them and pull out. Yesterday I had two people force me to stop in the middle of two different roundabouts, shortly after the other I had my lights on and was indicating at the correct positions for the correct direction I was travelling in, yet they still proceeded to pull out on me.

First one:

I'm in blue, orange is my indicator and red is the idiot. I only signal left once I have past the last exit before the one I intend to take (ie, in this case I indicate once past the second exit).

Second one:

Right lane is straight on, left is left only. I get to the middle alongside the roundabout itself, and they pulled out on me to go into the right-hand lane on the exit where I was after the left hand lane. Irrelevant of my position potentially being slightly wrong there, I was on the roundabout and they ignored the idea of give-way to right.

It's the fact that people pull out when I'm right near them that gets irritating. If I had only just entered the roundabout and they pulled out (even going slowly), fine. But they insist on spotting me, waiting, and then pulling out once I'm right at them, forcing me to stop. :(

The first one is on a hill, which the birds-eye view doesn't show, but they pull out when I start to indicate left after seeing me indicate right. Basically, they pull out when I am where I've drawn the blue car indicating left.

The way I see it you have two options
1. Get a 4x4 with bull bars and crash into them, wouldnt it be their fault insurance wise?
2. Just carry more speed into and round the roundabout. I used to see this fairly regually but after I started entering roundabouts with a bit more speed I don't get people pulling out in front of me very often at all. If they do then they tend to accelerate hard so I don't need to slow down. My theory is that people look to see if anyone is coming round the roundabout but misjudge the speed, if you are going that bit faster then what they are used to then they don't tend to pull out, or if they do they acknowledge the mistake and accelerate quickly out of the way. Only do this if safe to do so.

I also notice similar behaviour on the motorway (NB I don't tailgate). If someone is in the middile/outside lane and you are approaching from a distance then the greater the difference in speed between you and the person in front then the more likely it is that they move out of the way. I would guess that people just get used to seeing a particular car behind them even though you are carrying more speed than them and hence are becoming gradually larger. Whereas if your speed is greater when they see you and then 10 seconds later they check and you are are lot closer, as a consequence they seem to recall lane discipline and move back to the inside lane.

No 2 would result in a) exiting the roundabout sideways and/or b) crashing into the idiots...a may or may not have happened before. :p
