use of the word "partner"

I hate it when people use the word to make themselves look more 'mature'. Really bugs me.

I don't care really, but if a couple have been together for over a decade(or a long time basically), don't want to get married because they don't believe in it, but want to come across as more than just a simple BF/GF.

People getting hooked on simple words, 1st world problems.

Better half annoyed me to, if she's so much better than you then sort your ****life out

It's preferable to "missus" (when people are referring to a girlfriend) :o.

And misses is far preferable to the cringeworthy "better half" that some use. Every time I hear that phrase I die a little inside... Relationships are about equals, not idolising/sucking up to someone...:(

I know that girlfriend/boyfriend sounds ridiculous when you are in your 40s/50s, but "partner" just sounds like you're a gay.

That really made me laugh :D

Ah, the troubles of labels. You may be seeing someone and it can be great... dare to even have a conversation regarding any sort of label... dangerzone!
