I'm having a few people round in a few weeks (6 of us total) for a gaming night, all bringing our PC's.

Now, at the moment I've got a Superhub in Modem mode, with one of those fancy Asus routers. Anyway, the router is upstairs.

Ignoring the router (Turning it off/removing it from the network) if I just buy the switch ;

Do I just plug the superhub (Which is in modem mode) into the Switch? Or do I need the Superhub to be in router mode and connect it to the switch?

You could have everyone wired with what you have.

Put the Superhub back into router mode with the wireless disabled and configure the Asus as an access point. You can then use all of the LAN ports and use the Asus wireless.

You could just get the switch, bring the router downstairs for that night and plug everyone into the switch. (Superhub -> Router -> Switch <- everyone's PC's)

Means you don't need to mess about with reconfiguring anything and everyone has a wired connection (no-one moaning about wireless lag).

This or just run a long bit of ethernet between the Switch and the Router. No need to move it then.

Or, if the BT box supports backing up/restoring configurations (the Asus does), you could just reconfigure then restore after.

So many options! :D
