Using a train ticket twice in one day..

People like the OP sicken me to the core. One day it is reusing a train ticket the next you will have a skin suit made of murdered prostitutes. There is no doubt that you will burn forever in a fiery lake of damnation.........or something.

I never pay for train tickets, but only because the the conductors never come round to sell me one. Where I start my journey there are no ticket machines, so I have no choice really.

Last time I paid was probably a year ago. The journey is about 20-25 mins long, so not much though.

Presumably the fact that you rely on using an old ticket means that there are no ticket barriers or such and it's just somebody checking on the train.

In that case it's the same as having no train ticket, unless you are purely relying on attempting to pull it out when an Inspector comes around and pleading ignorance.

I think you know it's wrong, buy a ticket.

A train station without tickets?
Where on earth do you live?
20-25 minutes is way longer than I've seen people where I used to live who didn't pay just using it for one or two stops.

It's only a little thing, wouldn't even call it a station tbh (just got seats like a bus stop and that's about it, as well as a little building that's always locked). I've not been for a while though so maybe they've changed it since last time. I'll check when I next go football. :p

I used to get on, and about 5 minutes later someone would come round so I can buy one, but they never seem to do it now at all, even when the train isn't packed.

Probably not 20 minutes, I think it's about 3 or 4 stops though.

The station down the road from my house hasn't had a ticket machine for at least a year now... and 90% of the time no one is at the ticket office. Only in the mornings (upto about 10am)

Which means when i get to Reading i have to wait in a long line (sometimes) and buy one.

Seems pretty silly on there behalf if they want to make money yet don't have a ticket office open or a machine.

I've done this before with open returns if I travel late at night when I don't have to use the ticket barrier machines, as I don't know if they register used tickets or not. Also only when nobody came round to check my ticket, so basically I re-use tickets when I have pristine ones.

I don't feel guilty, I don't feel immoral, I also don't do it because I think I'm owed somthing. I do it because I can get away with it and don't really care either way. If I pay, I pay if I don't, I don't. I'm not really a fan of lining the pockets of big corporations either..

I hate it when they don't check my tickets, I get really angry feeling like I should have saved the money, although I know you should buy a ticket anyway.

I feel like this, but with cinemas. :p

I usually purchase my tickets online and always seem to walk straight through without them even checking.

I certainly wouldn't buy a new ticket if I already had one displaying exactly the same information as would be on the new one

I've bought off peak returns to bristol before.

The OUT ticket is useless as it has to be used on that day.

But the Return bit is valid for a month, and 50% of the time it doesn't get checked.. Plus at certain times the turnstiles are open.

Just means next time I go I only buy a single and save £5.

I know at least one person who does this ... I can't say i agree with it but it's his choice (and his pain if he gets caught either doing this or not having a valid ticket ... especially since they have started penalty fares around here).

Some of my other friends are lucky as they get free rail travel due to their work contracts but I just have an annual season ticket so I don't have to worry about getting a ticket for my commute.
