Hi I have a EVGA-260 Core-216 SSC edition

I am using 1680x1050
When I played UT3 I can never go over 60fps I assume there is a cap somewhere. I have looked around in the game settings but cant find much.

Any help please would be appreciated.

James.

lol, have you got V-Sync on?

Also, the average human eye cant tell the difference between 60+ fps so it doesnt matter mate. As long as it doesnt drop below 60 your fine.

Aaah, it's the weekly can-of-worms fps debate. Yes you can tell the difference in framerates beyond 60. It varies from person to person. I'll now glibly tell you to proceed to the nearest specsavers' and be done with this conversation.

Personally I haven't noticed the difference between 45 and 60 any more, but 30 definitely feels laggier than 45...

Regardless, I don't know, but a lot of games have frame limits these days, should be thankful it's 60 and not 32 like the monkeys in saints row 2 implemented it.

This is my pet hate :(

You can tell the difference between 30fps, 60fps, 76fps, 120fps an 200fps quite obviously tbh.

I thought the unreal 3 game was capped at 60fps ? I wasn't aware you could make it higher than that but i may be wrong!

Unless you have a crt or a new 120hz samsung or viewsonic monitor.

Of course it's capped at 60 fps.. standard lcd's are capped at 60 hence the jerky movement. Which is why serious fps gamers are still using crt's.

The human eye can see the difference well over 500fps. We did numerous test at universtiy not 1 person including lecturers 70 years+ failed to notice the vast improvement high fps gives. It's a common myth that 30/60 is the most we can see. The higher the res + the larger the screen, the more fps you need to archive a smooth frame rate.

On 60hz LCDs, 60fps is the optimum since anything above that will be wasted and will actually look worse due to screen tearing. The only exception to this would be fps that is locked at a multiple of 60, e.g. 120fps, 180fps, etc.

Mate,

CS Source at 120fps and CS Source at 63 fps is no different using my eyes and i have excellent eye sight.

Thats my pet hate :mad:

UT3 is always capped at 60fps, but you can go into the config files and change it.

Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config\UTEngine

[Engine.GameEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE
MinSmoothedFrameRate=22.000000
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=62.000000

On a 60hz LCD i don't see any difference over 60fps, i always keep Vsync on and when a game drops below 60fps, i certainly notice a difference.
