Utorrent 1.7 heads up

The same applies for 1.6.1 though
From what I've been reading, it goes back to 2005.
There has been a lot of controversy about the recent acquisition of uTorrent by Bram Cohen, the creator of the Bittorent protocol. Most users seem to be disturbed about the partnership between Bittorrent and the MPAA which started in fall 2005 with the agreement that illegal searches would be removed from its own Bittorrent search engine. The fear that the cooperation will affect the development of the popular uTorrent client seems to grow with every passing day.

Yeah guys this whole bittorrent issue has been like this since 05, so 1.6.1 will have the same issues you are worried about with 1.7

you can claim entrapment if you get caught being naughty (something i don't advocate or take part in :p). i mean look at utorrent's default search engines ffs. :D

does it still use all your bandwidth even when you limit it to 1kb/s up and down and even when your not downloading anything ?
No idea - I let NetLimiter tell the programs how much bandwidth they have. I just tell programs, such as uTorrent, they have unlimited bandwidth. :)

Had 1.7 installed for a few hours now, but tempted to rollback to 1.6.1 after reading some posts in here.
yer now im worried as norton personel firewall appears to going nuts with virtually non stop blocking warnings  :o

Yeah that's it really, either Azureus or uTorrent since the rest either suck or are a bit...dodgy (BitLord!).

At least Azureus is Open Source so that nobody can ever really buy it, what we now need is an "Open Source uTorrent" run by people that won't sell out :p

As a bit of a side note, why is everyone in the UK afraid of the MPAA - Motion Picture Association of America?

Why is everyone so bothered that Bittorrent.com bought it? It's not owned by MPAA or anything like that, they just have a deal with many major companies to provide legal content via the official bittorrent client.

You all need tinfoil hats :p

Well, I have been using Micro Torrent 1.7 since it came out; it self-updated. There seem to be no problems with it, either limiting it or scheduling downloads. I am concerned at the link with the film ... industry.

So, anyone got a better choice of Bit Torrent client that might be free from the Film Industries graps and work well with Vista?
