Hi there

Absolutely love it.

That car looks brand new, are you restoring it from the ground up?

Am really looking forward to the new Dodge Challenger as I think it might just be my next car, if not than no doubt a Corvette C6. :)

Nothing to do with me unfortunately was just browsing the web, I wish it was me restoring it :) I'd happily sacrifice several chavs in return for it :D

Yep :) And it's not a 426ci motor either - 528ci, produces somewhere in the region of 630 ponies. Last time I rode in the car he decided to plant his right foot, at about 8500rpm in 3rd the entire world started to blur! He still has the matching numbers 426ci motor for if/when he decides to sell the car....can't see him ever doing that though!

Gibbo, I can't wait for them to actually build that Challenger. Should give the 'stang a damn good hiding :D

Yeah it truly will.

Its got a 6.1l Hemi as STD with 425 restricted BHP and 400Lb-Ft torque all as STD. Results in a 4.5s 0-60 with 1/4 mile in 13s from a bone stock car.

Doing the same kinda mods to that as my Mustang would release another good 80ish horsepower and lots more torque, that'll mean 1/4 mile in low 12s from an N/A car. :)

I really do think its my next car and with Dodge now officially selling into the UK it might mean I can get one imported through a UK dealer who will offer full warranty. Yes I am making inquires. :D

That sounds a great idea but they never seem to do the maths right. Base model mustang over in us of a is something silly like 12k. Buy the same model here and its more like 20k :(

I bet you they'll double the price when they bring it over here

I did well with the Mustang as I paid US price for it of $45,000ish.

They tend to sell for 35-40k for 05/06 plates with low miles in the UK, but I was lucky as a rich guy wanted quick sale. Its cost him 8.5k ish to ship over due to shipping and VAT etc. So I saved a lot of money. :)

Now don't get me wrong - I love the 'new' look Challenger - but I'm disappointed, after reading a write up on it because....

....it looks almost exactly the same, with a few modern lines thrown in. It just doesn't do anything for me, as I'd rather have an old one for the looks, so in that sense what does the 'new' one have to offer?

Nothing for you and I. But for those than aren't enlightened to the whole "old car" thing, they get the piece of mind of owning a modern car.

Absolute balls of course - an old Challenger is pretty much just as reliable, but most buyers don't see it that way!

Let's be honest here Gibbo. You actually stole it from them at the price you paid :)

Gibbo,

What's the status on your car project? I thought you were tuning it up?

Currently at 372BHP and 363Lb-Ft up from the original 300BHP and 320Lb-Ft. :)

Aiming for 400BHP and 380Lb-Ft N/A along with some weight reduction mods and shorter ratio gears, should see 12.5s in the 1/4 mile then.

Then next step is supercharger if I still want more, over 500BHP, 470LB-Ft ISH torque and 1/4 mile in approx 11s. :D

To anyone that hails the straight six- this is a real engine. Sounds like a Spitfire taxiing when he's pulling off his driveway.

A warrenty for the people who worry! Also a new plastic interior.
