As title Im looking for a new vacuum.
My current 8+ year old Vax cleaner isnt cutting it anymore, especially now I have a dog which gets fur everywhere.

I've no idea what to look for though, budget is somewhere between £200-£300.

Are Dysons still very unreliable?

The AirRam is supposed to be good - http://www.gtech.co.uk/cordless-vacuum-cleaners/airram-vacuum-cleaner.html

Although I recently bought - http://www.vax.co.uk/vacuum-cleaner...tY_M_kUCqHkadPhjBnY67RXuvtFipiiPKMaAlJZ8P8HAQ - when it was on Ideal World for £150. Have to say I am pretty impressed with it.

I've also got a shark liftaway corded unit that whilst being very powerful and very maneuverable in an open room is less useful in a room with furniture in it, and isnt ideal for a place with stairs if its the only thing you have. I am contemplating selling it on to be honest.

My mum's just got a new Dyson Big Ball and the amount of dog hair it picks up surprised me, usually find them on deal somewhere.

I didn't realise Dyson were considered "Very unreliable"

I have a V6 Fluffy. Zero complaints.

Dyson here as well the animal ones are great. Think we have the DC55 great on carpets. Only the second one ever ever since the DC7. So very reliable if you ask me.

Was going to get a Dyson then tried out a Shark - colour me impressed. Very quiet. Very good suctions. Plenty of tools. Light.

Dyson user here as well, never had one problem with the one i had started with dc04,just got a dc40 and its superb.

Bosch Animal, it was a toss-up between this and Miele cat and dog.
correction - Bosch BSGL5PETGB Power Animal Vacuum

Never had a Dyson, but have become conscientous objector against Mr Dyson with his ProBrexit stance, because he does not like what he considers unfair EU comparsion of his machines versus Miele/Bosch which typically have better suction when bag is new, vs his machines.
Also, as latest news articles asserted Dyson's also made in China too, so they do not have the Brompton'esque/Artisanal heritage his advertising likes to suggest ... Bosch Animals was made in germany/rfa

If your on a budget just get a henry or VAX has a up to 75% off sale on atm. I just got a hard wood cleaner which is around £50 on amazon for £15 delivered.

If you want to spend a bit more then it simply has to be miele.

Dyson imo are overpriced and don't pick up as much stuff as a miele. They are very much just a fancy brand name with a good looking product. Aesthetics over function.

Miele all the way

We got a Samsung MotionSyncHybrid VU-7000 1200w thing, based on rave reviews on this very forum.
Does exceptionally well against fur off three dogs, far better than any Vax we've had and far cheaper than any Dyson equivalent.

Miele C3 Cat & Dog here. Retired my Dyson Animal DC25 after having it 4 years and it's like night and day ... will never touch an overpriced Dyson again!

I was skeptical at first but having hoovered the entire house first (2 long haired Maine Coons do wonders for changing the carpet to fur covered) then the Miele, it was like new carpet had been installed.

Hoover is a brand.

You did the vacuuming.

We splashed out this year and got a Dyson v8 Animal. Quality cordless vacuum just perfect for our 2 bed flat with a mix of laminate.and carpet. Do the whole flat ij 10 minutes. Loads of accessories to get in all the right places.
