Valve are *special*

Tummy, the deal was advertised as being extended. Meaning it ran longer than the weekend.

The nvidia thing was an extension of a point of principle; the withdrawal of expected benefits. It is not a legal obligation to provide them, but they are expected by consumers all the same.

the argument comes down to semantics/what is customary- I presume that if something is advertised as ending on the 17th, it runs for the whole of the 17th. Confusion has come about because of a vaguery, it could have been easily avoided.

No one takes that point on board?

I didn't see the deal being extended, how can you make a thread about missing out on purchasing a game in a sale when you had plenty of time to buy the game.

I think you might be on your own on this, because 2-3 days is long enough for the majority of people who want to buy a game, to buy said game.

No the Nvidia thing is completely useless imo, that would apply if you bought left for dead, and then Valve said they weren't going to update it anymore or offer any support.

I don't take your point on board. You complaining because you missed out saving some money on a deal that ran for 2/3 and a half days.

... ?

This Friday the 13th brings us a little closer to the zombie apocalypse. Whether or not you're superstitious, Left 4 Dead is 50% off this weekend only. So grab a shotgun and make a run for the next safe room.

It's the zombie apocalypse. Bring friends.

Is the only thing it says on the Steam site.

That was posted on the 13th Friday.

Probably, its a popular game.

Can't you pick it up cheap from elsewhere and add it to your steam account ? ;)

Yeah it is worth it, it's a fantastic game.

With all the updates/content Valve are going to do it will be worth it in the long run.

Valve are dedicated to keeping their games fresh/updated/fun.

Left 4 Dead is the new release, they will be concentrating on that for a while.
It will all sort it's self out :)

pff blizzard make the best pc games

tummy- the extension was in a sticky on their forums. it went away this morning.

the point is of principle, though differing scales of magnitude. people buy video cards on the assumption the manufacturers will continue to provide software that helps them stay compatible. there is no obligation for them to do that, but they do.

also, OCUK seem to handle this issue better. their deals of the week were like clockwork iirc.

No, because you didn't buy a graphics card and have to pay more because you missed the deadline ? you somehow think that this isn't your fault.

You missed out on the sale.
If you were in a shop, a day after the sale, would you want to pay less for a jumper that was in the sale yesterday ?

Nothing to do with who makes the better games.

I really don't get the graphics card comment. You've not bought a product and Valve doensn't have responsibility to support anything until you do buy it. It's a pretty huge difference.

You missed the sale.

You either wait for another sale, or find somewhere that sells it just as cheap.

It has nothing to do with support, it's not Valves fault you didn't buy the game in time.

It's like walking in to a shop, picking up a jumper and not liking the fact its 100 pounds when it was in the sale yesterday for 75.

what you going to do ? stand and argue and talk about the fact they should support you ? or going to take it on the chin and wait for another sale or look else ware.

I don't mean to offend you, so please don't take it that way.

I just don't see how this is Valves fault.

It is my fault i miss the sale.

My point is that if you went into a shop that had sale prices at 10am and suddenly they changed them when u went back at 1pm the same day you would be a bit miffed (im projecting here, so please correct me if I am wrong) and confused.

This would not be so frustrating if they advertised the sale as finishing at 12.30pm that day. it just makes things clearer.

I dont take offense at anyone, i am trying to understand why people would regard it as a positive thing for a business to behave like that

surely it would be more desirable for a business to be crystal clear and avoid confusing circumstance?
