Valve has a surprise for us..

In what way is L4D being milked into oblivion after two games?? Think people!!

Because L4D2 isnt that different from the first one, it should have been an add on

I'd say the engines been milked enough and as someone previously said a new engine with a new Half Life and CS based on that engine would be amazing, then they can release as many L4D's based on that engine as they want!

errr it's more different than any modern sequel i can think of.

Including fundamental changes in gameplay.

Charger, spitter and moving events are the equivalent of adding tanks and jet fighters to Counter strike.

I didnt think the same as I am a different person to you so its quite natural to form a different opinion

I can't see how they could release HL3 without giving us Ep3 first. It would be like they spent to long getting Ep3 out so they didn't bother.

Episode gaming was supposed to be the next big thing and failed - badly. Valve should release Ep3 and then move on.

The good (and bad) thing about valve is that they have total control over their products, and they only release something when they feel that it is ready. I wouldn't want them to release EP3 if it was a pile of poo, just so they could move on. I would much rather wait for a full sequal.

Does anyone know what happened to Adrian Shepard from HL - Opposing Force. Perhaps they will do a Metal gear solid 2 on us and totally swap out the lead character!? I loved the AI marines in that addon. :D

Opposing Force was made by gearbox not Valve

Shephard is just another agent of Gman, I don't reckon we'll see him again

It's working OK for Telltale Games and their episodic Sam and Max games, just a shame Valve can't follow suit - especially when Steam is used to distribute TT's games.

Im gonna put my money on it being a new steam engine and EP 3. i reckon they will intertwine the half life story with portal 2 making some immense gaming from Valve.

i really hope its ep3 been waiting along time for this game!

I think episodic games are still a fine idea. Valve are just the worst possible dev to attempt it. The idea can be used successfully by any other dev if they really wanted.

One answer could be that they spent a long time on EP3 and also on Source 2 and eventually decided it would be easier to turn EP3 into a full game using the Source 2 engine...

Exactly, Valve care too much about quality of their games just like blizz (used to). Unfortunatly neither company can be relied on for keeping deadlines
