Valve 'Probably' Done With Single-Player Games

There's a place for both SP and MP, I fear a lot of devs are going away with SP content beacuse it's easier/cheaper to make player driven content. CSS will never get old for me but I'd like the option to play grand SP stories too

Just seems like they want to have a co-op feature in future games.

But singleplayer will still be indefinitely there ofcourse.

Last time I checked, Portal was the only single player game they did, what are you bitching about?

Ever heard of Half Life?

Anyway, I'm not saying I hate multiplayer games, I've played 300 hours in L4D2, 150 in TF2 plus many more in other games. I'm just saying a high quality singleplayer experience will beat a multiplayer one for me. I don't mind coop in games, as long as theres still a mode where I can play through by myself.

Aaaaahahahaha there's a thing called Half Life: Deathmatch btw

Not just for HL1 but both of them as well.

This applies to the two or three other completely clueless posters in the thread as well.

Call them clueless if you like, no-one actually includes Half Life: Deathmatch as being part of either game as a multiplayer component. Your post still made you look like an uninformed tool.

The way it's worded, it sounds like they want all games to have some sort of multiplayer component as well. Not that they aren't producing single player games at all, HL3 isn't going to co-op only, they're not retarded.

As above - I think Portal was about all they did that was solely SP - HL(2) had multiplayer support, L4D was mainly MP etc. etc.

Sounds good to me

It sounds like they mean incorporating multiplayer into the main game though, ie co-op.

future games to support connected, non-solo gaming, in some way, at all levels

I hope they mean cop like l4d etc as they're coop is great and coop games are some of the best fun I've ever had much more so than standard sp games.
