*** Valve Steam Machine ***

I really can't see any use for this thing. If you own a steam library full of games that's likely because you own a pc. If you own a pc you probably don't want a smaller pc, because if you did, you'd have likely built a powerful mitx case by now..

So that means you might want a console experience...

In that case, you'd should buy a console for half the price and a much better interface.

I'm so bored of people saying pc games are so much cheaper too. That ship has sailed. Console games can be bought at decent prices now and they have better sales on their respective shops than steam has had for years.

Game prices are similar for most releases. I bought resident evil requiem for about £36 on Xbox recently. It's around that price on pc.

I dont care that I can buy terraria for my pc for about a quid :)

We should have a poll for it wont sell (overpriced/I don't understand who it's for) vs it'll be sold out for years (obviously they only made 5/valve fans will buy anything)

Maybe a third option for **** AI.

It shouldn't sell at that price point but nor should £2500 graphics cards, it will though, because there's enough people out there with more money than sense :p

It’s not great is it - absolute shame. Specs wise it’s a decent indie game device - not a proper gaming pc.

The price is outrageous - capitalism has just gone off the rails.

The max spec version at £499 absolute max would be an on the fence price — sale price of £449 would be tempting.

£1250+   No chance!

May pick one up in 5 years for under £400

They will probably be more expensive for same tech in five years.

Price in steam deck keeps going up.

Another thing people seem to bang on about is the form factor. The form factor bit is nothing impressive. An Xbox series X has the same footprint, is more powerful. Comes with a controller, and has been out years.

Unless you live in a burrow the height of an Xbox series X shouldn't bother anyone.

If the steammachine allowed cpu and gpu upgrades then it might stand out. But since it doesnt, it's basically a console.. And as a console way behind any other consoles.

People who own pcs have a huge steam catalogue packed full of old crap they picked up in humble bundles ten years ago. They probably play a handful of games and the rest haven't been installed or launched since mid 2010s. But with this in mind they will justify crap like this steam machine by saying "I get to play my whole steam library on the TV and the games are much cheaper than consoles!".

Yeah sure.. Leisure suit Larry for 50p. Nice one.

Good luck buying a triple A recent release and playing that on this machine.

God knows how people justify this thing.

Valve fan boys will snap it up but I can't wait to see the crap they come out with to claim it's a good product.

It can't play Fortnite can it because of anti cheat?

It can via amazon luna, but hardly anyone knows this so still pointless. And those who do probably won't want to because lag etc.

Gaurntee it sells, but genuinely don't see the point. A ps5 pro is a far far better buy, and a self build that you can change a gpu in 4 years is also better value (over time).

Some argument that devs will tune games for it, but why would they unless it sells enmasse.

Though in reality this is probably just steams way to get other manufacturers to make steam os consoles. Getting steam in more homes.

Ah fair enough
But then I imagine anything can play fortnite through Amazon Luna then?
