**Vampyr**

I decided to buy this last night. Seems good so far, but runs pretty poorly for me. Not sure why, because my system isn't all that bad; 980ti, AMD 8350,16gb ram. 1080p drops down to 25fps occasionally.

Somethings up there...I have a 1070, so roughly equal (I think) to your card.

I run it @ 1440p (downsampled) and it's not even breaking a sweat.

Do you run any monitoring s/w to see if you have any bottlenecks?

I don't have any monitoring software installed atm, but I'll have to get some sorted. I had far better performance with the last few games I've played. All of which I'd say are more demanding as well.

Yea, agreed with Kelt, there's something at play in your machine. You have a better machine than I do and I am running at solid 60fps at 1440p

This looks like one of those decent games that comes out to naff all fanfare, sits amongst higher profile releases, gets limited sales and soon sees massive reductions, similar to when Mad Max came out. There are others but I always remember Mad Max as I bought that for somewhere between £10-16 a week or two after release I think.

Of course, I could be wrong...

I use MSI Afterburner and HWINFO64. You can configure them to show what you like in OSD.

Well still enjoying it, but started to get a few crashes now. Something to do with unreal 4 have encountered a fatal error. Been keeping an eye on their twitter page and steam forums.

As well as a few frame drops into the high 40s.

Some bit can be pretty tough to specially if there's a few of those skarl? around. Does this game scale at all? or have I just gotta get upto their level because some enemies are a good 7 levels above me.

I like the atmosphere. It will be a great game.

Wish it was better optimized though (it drops to fifties eventhough GPU and CPU are underutilized) and the dialogues had witcher 3-like cinematic camera. It is weird that in 2018 companies are still not capable of doing it, and not just Dontnod but even Bioware.

Played it for 2 hours today and think it's great so far. Early days I suppose but the reviews giving it an average of 6 out of 10 already look a bit off. Remember these same reviewers didn't fancy Prey last year when it was a lot peoples game of the year here...

I really enjoyed Prey. Had quite a few bugs in on release though. One that messed things up for me on one of the missions. Otherwise fantastic game. Pretty sure I will enjoy this too. But will definitely wait for all the bugs to be fixed and for it to get a price cut.

I made what I've now come to realise was a big mistake in the early stages of the game;
I Didn't realise that my dialogue choice would result in nurse whatshername dying and everything going to hell, while completing the blackmail quest.

Same, thought the charm option would have gotten her back to the hospital but nope, it's exactly the same outcome as killing her but without the 4k exp reward!

Great game though, horrible performance and misleading dialogue options aside, the games does everything else very well.

I've just completed the game. I picked up on a few plot holes though.

Elisabeth mentions that as a vampire, her heart hasn't beat in a long time. Yet when you enter "vampire vision" you can clearly see it beating. During the fight in the hospital with Mcculum, he drinks the blood of King Arthur, who is later revealed to have been a vampire. So is Mcculum now a vampire? Lastly, the most significant plot hole. How is it that Reid isn't fried to a crisp when he visits the castle at the end of the game? It's clearly daylight....

I hope so! I really like the look of it, but I don't fancy it at full price.

I'm 8 hours in to it and think it's a great game. It actually feels a little bit like the Dishonoured games in terms of the exploration and looting. It's going for £30.99 from CDKeys at the minute. I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger for that price either though - I took a chance and pre-orderd it from £22 for CDKeys knowing that the price would go up after the release date.

£22 isn't bad. I rarely buy games at full price anymore, I'm getting old so I don't feel the need to have them on release day. :D

I've just bought Prey, and I'm addicted to Project Cars 2 now I've bought a Rift. Once I'm done with those two, this should have dropped in price and I'll grab it then. :)

Very much enjoyed the game. I set out to be as evil as possible, as I do in every game, yet like every other game, I end up being the nice guy. Completed it without killing a soul.

I do hope they bring out some DLC with a completely new story, perhaps set in Edinburgh, or Paris.

I didn't make a conscious decision to be either good or evil but have been killing folk who I deemed to be bad and/or when I have completed all their hints and have nothing further to add to the game. I think I'm maybe just past the half way mark. How many hours did you get out of the game?

Not sure how long my play through took as I restarted after I had learned the game mechanics. At a guess, around 30 hours which included a little XP grinding. I did do all the side quests, which took me to level 28 at the end. Steam reports 89 hours played , I must have left it running when I slept.

How do you avoid killing anyone, I've just started and you get those random thugs in the streets that you don't seem to have much choice other than beat them to death at which point you may as well feed on them ... Am I missing something?
Thanks

Feeding on NPCs and feeding on enemies is different, in combat biting simply deals a chunk of damage and heals you for an amount. Actual feeding involves hypnotising named characters in the world and murdering them in seclusion. Do you remember the guy in the tutorial, who stabbed and threw the guy in the canal? That was the tutorial's way of showing you how to feed and how to choose not to. Not feeding simply makes you level slowly btw.
