Various PC games crashes on my PC

I had the exact same problem with a brand new rig - games would run for 20 to 45 minutes then the PC would crash and reboot - turned out to a faulty PSU. I'd be surprised if that isn't your problem...

weird.

Been playing GTA5 no problem? i forgot i had fraps as an overaly before and i removed FRAPS and GTA5 now works.

Before it would crash imediatly.

Looking at the even viewer.

i saw a few error logs below:

source: perflib

details:
The Open Procedure for service "BITS" in DLL "C:\Windows\System32\bitsperf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the error code.

Another perflib error:

The Open Procedure for service "ESENT" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\esentprf.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the error code.

BITS(background downloads etc) and ESENT (licensing) resource monitoring aren't needed for your pc and windows updates can easily break those (common issue but doesn't cause programs to hang). What storage you using? Multiple drives?

I had this problem for ages with the 980gtx , even getting a replacement in the process.

Except mine would hard lock the system completely requiring a hard reset that would more often than not throw all the bios settings back to defaults as well.

So it could be utorrent running in the background that could cause games to crash?

32GB is overkill for gaming...

My pc is used for more then gaming.

Incidentally its only games that crash. My other programs dont such as photoshop, lightroom, Android studio and Handbreak just to name a few

Have you tried without using SLI?

Remove a card and just use a single card and try.

Out of interest I tried uninstalling the W10 Xbox app as I read it applies overlays and records game play (worth a try), and I haven't had a crash yet.

Would be interesting if anyone else sees the same..

From an elevated Powershell do command:

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxApp | Remove-AppxPackage

then reboot.

Welcome to the world of PC troubleshooting :-

Years ago I learned it was best to keep my gaming PC free of stuff running in the background.

The Xbox, if it is the problem, has only been causing issues the last month or so. And there's no indication that it's running or doing anything in the background.
