Varjo Aero

Yeah, I had two Crystals and returned them due to lens issues. Although now I think "it wasn't that bad and I can live with those lenses with 3800x3800 OLEDs" but it probably was and I just want new stuff.
I wish Sony would release the PSVR2 drivers to give me my PC OLED fix. I'll be happy using the Aero for AMS2 and the PSVR2 for everything else.

I've fiddled around 4.2 and with that redshift fix and got it to a comfortable level. I still have slight red/blue outlines on white blocks but I can live with it.
Has anyone noticed the image is "sharper"? Like it's previously been running at 80% resolution scale in SteamVR but now you're on 100% resolution scale, or am I losing the plot - which is also quite possible?

I just tried the latest software and I think you are correct about the resolution being sharper, I have only tested assetto corsa competizione and American truck sim and the image does seem sharper and getting less judder when looking around, still some there but I did a factory rest of the base software so may need to adjust vsync etc

Just wanted to add, i had an issue with one of the lenses going off, seemed to show coloured crt static type of issue, they shipped me a replacement cable and link box in about a week, but it still had issues so they replaced it with a new one. I wasn't sure if they would as no longer for sale. Took about two month fromthe initial issue being raised and testing cable etc so not too bad. So support seems decent if you have one and have issues.

Just contacted Varjo support to see if they had a redshift fix for the new firmware.. It seems the optical fix is included.
Thank you for contacting Varjo Support.

This is certainly improvement to the last time when it was with the .bat

We're pleased to announce that in our latest software release, Varjo Base 4.3, we are including a tool for adjusting the red/blue shift issue. Please note that this functionality is experimental, and we are looking for continued feedback on its effectiveness. The update comes with a tool called OpticalAdjustment.exe that allows you to set different values for the color correction improvement.

----- How to use tool:

  1. Install Varjo Base 4.3
  2. Connect and run your Varjo headset as usual.
  3. Make sure Automatic IPD adjustment is enabled or manual IPD adjustment is set to a value matching your actual IPD.
  4. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Varjo\varjo-compositor\
  5. Open the command prompt and set the value to desired: OpticalAdjustment.exe --value=-0.4
  6. The default value is -0.4. We recommend testing values between -0.3 -- -0.6 to find the value giving you the most optimal visual experience.
  7. The value will be preserved between restarts, so you only need to set it once. It will reset if you uninstall Varjo Base

Idiots guide:

Press [WINDOWS KEY]+R and type in "CMD" in the little search box which opens.
A black window opens
Type "cd Program Files\Varjo\varjo-compositor" to go to the correct directory.
(if it doesn't happen then type "CD.." a few times to get to just a "C:" directory

Type: "OpticalAdjustment.exe --value=-0.3"

This completely fixes everything. No chromatic aberration or colour shift for me.
have fun

Thanks looks good for me as well, I also noticed HDR on in Windows makes the colours look off as well, so I find running that off as well helps.
First post added as well

The changelog says they added a 75hz mode. I can't find it though, unless it's just for the XR4?
Glad they haven't completely forgot the Aero. Hopefully they'll add local dimming before they abandon the headset.

@sgavan
Here , easier way:
Create a text file and copy the following text into it. Save it as "VarjoFix.bat" and click on it while Varjo Base is running.
c:
CD C:\Program Files\Varjo\varjo-compositor
START OpticalAdjustment.exe --value=-0.30

Does anyone get it where the headset does a sort of reset after 5 minutes from cold start. Image freezes, flashes grey for about 5 seconds, slowly rotates until it aligns again and lets you carry on. Doesn't happen again after that until the following day. It can't be a bust headset. Must be some windows power setting or something?

Not had this - had overheating warning shortly after start up requesting shutdown

I used to get the overheating warning with the old drivers, but not any more. I stopped getting the headset losing the sync when I stopped Varjo Base launching with W11.
It's all a little strange.

Another Varjo Aero owner here with a question: I am confused about when to use OpenXR from Varjo Base and when to use OpenXR from SteamVR. More specifically, when I attempted to use OpenXR from Varjo Base, without launching SteamVR, my Valve Index controllers could not be tracked by the application.

May I assume that I always need to use SteamVR with Varjo Aero for the Valve Index controllers to function?
If SteamVR is not necessary for Valve Index Controllers, is there a web page/document explaining how to set up my system?
One last question: what do people do when the battery or the circuit of the valve index controller dies? Valve responded to me recently that they don't repair them. Is there an independent repair centre?

On another topic, I have attached an Ultraleap Motion 2 controller to my Aero, as well as Valve Index speakers (which I purchased as spare parts) and uploaded the STL here, in case there are more people interested (the corresponding Somnium VR-1 model is far more expensive):

Hi, yeah I think steam vr is required for controller usage, I only have the original valve controllers and as far as I know it always uses it for the station linking.
