VAT receipts from petrol stations

If it's a super market station they should be asking every customer as part of the standard speel that you are told to give each customer. It's like asking everyone who comes in for a pint of milk if they have purchased any fuel.

Funny enough i went to morrisons to get my fuel (Cheaper than other places where i live) and puts the fuel in my tank, line up, 6 people infront of me, she asked every single one if they like a club card or the offer of the week was on choccy. I went up to the counter and she didnt ask me nothing! I should have said, you failed the mystery shopper test, un f'in lucky, better start job hunting.

Only used my recipts once for VAT when i was at woolies going around in thr summer when they required more staff :)

I would laugh if they then turned around and said "Unlucky, i am a manager and all the mystery shoppers report to me, you have no power to sack me" :p

9/10 times I get asked if I want a VAT receipt if I'm wearing a suit. Same petrol station, same staff don't ask if I'm just wearing jeans/t-shirt etc.

I always have to ask for a receipt. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a VAT scam going on. Can the cashiers sell/give petrol receipts to their family/community to be used as proof of expenses for self-employed people to dodge tax? Are minicab drivers included in this?

In b4 'you bumped an x year old thread'.

It's a directive from government unfortunately. Too many people finding any old receipts floating around and putting them through as business expenses.
