Vegan sausage

It's a tasteless sausage in some tasty pastry so overall it was okay.

If people can't tell the difference between a real sausage roll then their taste buds are in serious doubt or the sausage roll was cheap and nasty.

This is where life is wrong. Can you imagine giving a real sausage to a vegan, letting them eat it and then telling them it's pork? They'd hit the roof. But the other way round is fine, they can stuff their vegan rubbish down us meateaters throats and nobody cares.

I can imagine the Daily Mail headline now. VEGAN TRICKED INTO EATING MEAT. It's never the other way round MEATEATER TRICKED INTO EATING QUORN.

*sigh*

I'm going to make some fake lettuce. It'll taste much nicer than real lettuce.

What's the best way to make bacon green?

LM Mozzarella Burgers
Quorn Southern Fried Bites for a snack
Iceland No Bull Jalapeño Burgers

Have you tried morrisons meat free chicken kievs? They are great !

These meat free subs are making it much easier to be vegetarian.

I haven't and we don't have a morrrisons near us.

I've cut out meat in the week so it's going well now. Lots of bean chilli's, lentil curries, pasta and veggies. I still get to enjoy some animals on the weekends.

I see quite a rise in jack fruit being used as a meat substitute but I don't think it's a good choice but it's not even to do with the texture/taste. As it's a fruit it has very little protein and a lot of sugar, if you used it pure meat substitute your diet would be a bit unbalanced.

Decided to try one of those vegan sausage rolls rather than getting two steak and cheese rolls from Gregg's and it wasn't half bad to be honest.

Edit: I also got one steak and cheese rolls, I'm not an animal. :p

Give Sainsbury's frozen veggie sausages a go, very close to the real thing.

I love vegi deli cumberland sausages, not close to the real thing but they taste great.

This is a great thread.
More meat like in texture these substitutes are the better for me.
I feel like ive joined this club at a good time

I'd wager that they're still better than those Richmond things.

I'm reminded of the "Yes, Minister" or "Yes, Prime Minister" episode which covered sausages and a (presumably fictional, but believable) dispute with the EU over labelling. The EU wanted the description to be "emulsified high fat offal tubes", but after much political wrangling the description was "British sausage".

Try the BBQ "pulled pork" style as well.

Beavis and Butthead time...they said "pulled pork", huh huh.

Good thing that as a vegetarian or vegan you don't have to eat Jackfruit for every meal of every day.

Something else i noticed.

Vegan cheese tastes like Quavers to me. I do enjoy the odd packet of quavers but i certainly don’t want it in on my crackers or in a sandwich :/

Missus is vegan, I'm not. I'm not a complete **** so don't waft my meat around her (haw) and do try to have a few meat free days a week.

The LM mozzarella burgers are nice every so often and I'm a huge fan of the Vivera veggie steaks that tesco sell. They don't taste like meat but genuinely make a good meat substitute.

I find veggie/soy mince perfectly acceptable in a lasagna/bolognese/chilli too.
