Vegas 2021

With the Wynn/Encore, are the rooms drastically better in one than another? Or is it much of a muchness? And do you get access to different things if you book either hotel?
They're the same hotel essentially, the Encore is slightly younger but they are linked and there's a row of shops as you walk through the Wynn to the Encore (and access to the nightclub and the Le Reve show entrance).

Buffets pretty much died out in 2020 sadly
Yeah think Covid killed that, the Wynn breakfast was amazing and my Mrs kept saying why do they have rib of beef or prawns etc. at breakfast, more than once I had to remind her some people had not even been to bed before going for breakfast, as a non gambler (me as well) she couldn't get her head round why someone would want to stay up all night playing the casino.

I had a week in Vegas for work before Christmas. Been ages since Ive been to the states (10 years).

I know they have had inflation and our pound is weak, but a large (almost 2 pints) for £18 at a sports bars in the mgm hotel on the first night was certainly an adjustment.

I clearly remember the same bar same hotel and me an an ex (12 years ago) got hammered for less than a £30 bar tab.

Not a cheap place at all.

I was at the conference for aws so whilst I chose to stay off the strip (partly due to work budget/partly choice) I visited most of hotels. You really can't go wrong I don't think. Pick one central and visit a few of them to enjoy what they have to offer.

Mandalay Bay is a bit far out imo. Wynn isn't bad at the other end. They bay is across a big road intersection

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but i'm looking at doing a 4 night stint for our honeymoon in late July in Vegas this year.

Does a lot of the advice in this thread still stand? I see the Mandalay Bay gets recommended quite a bit.

Were looking for somewhere that has a decent pool, that is fairly modern/not tired rooms with a good view and is easy to get around from.

It's a bit of a head**** when you scroll through Booking.com or Hotels.com

The hotels we've been looking at are:
Bellagio - Newly Renovated Premier King
Aria - Stay Well Deluxe King
Mandalay Bay - Bay King or Elite Suite

These all worked out at between= £750-£950 for the 4 nights.

I've stayed at the MGM and Circus Circus before so not fussed about them.

Any thoughts on the 3 above? Or is there somewhere else that you think we should absolutely consider (in the same price bracket).
The Bellagio is the most expensive and looks lux but Mandalay looks like it has a better pool area and is incidentally the cheaper of the 3.
Of those 3 deff the Bellagio, Mandalay location is crap

We decided on a fountain view room at The Cosmo with a balcony instead after conferring with some friends who had been recently. Seems to tick all the boxes!
Cosmo is an odd one, everything about ought to be great but it seems to attract a bit of a downmarket crown for some reason I can't figure

I hear the buffets keep cropping up in recommendations. Are they actually that good?
I'm always a bit overwhelmed by the choice and then underwhelmed by the quality with a buffet but understand that I haven't ever been to a Vegas buffet.

Are bottomless brunches a common thing in Vegas?

Also, what is the craic with Old Vegas/Freemont Street? Is that worth a visit? Any recommendations for things to do down there?

Nobody calls it “old Vegas” BTW, you’ll sound like a noob if you say that. Just call it downtown or Fremont.

Fremont Street is supposed to be good for food / drink, the VivaVision screen thing and zip wire. The Mob Museum is down there and the Neon Museum not far.

Couple of vids:

Also, throwing this out there: https://www.battlefieldvegas.com/. Not sure if your missus will appreciate it though :p

I think the High Roller big wheel at Linq looks good.

Maybe try some Sky Bars?:
