Thanks all.

Edit with more info, It will only be me and my wife, Thinking of the whole holiday costing 4k including spending money, flights, rooms etc.

bit of an open question :p

hotel budget? (per room)

best places? give us a clue what you mean, shows/clubs/restaurants?

extras? resort fee for hotel ( $10-20 p.n.) , ridiculous tipping culture and lots of spending money :P

A week there is a long time. You planning on visiting anywhere else in the state?

I'd recommend Grand Canyon at the very least. There's an outlet shopping mall a short drive out too. We stayed at the MGM. It was nice. Decor was a little dated, but it was well situated for the price. We went into all the major casino/hotels from there. Stay on the strip i'd also advise. I liked the the look of Paris ( I think that's what it's called).

And stay away from denies dinner

******* amazing.

Hotel : Mandalay bay

Things to do : Gun store, gambling, drinking, hoover dam, grand canyon (fly down there, don't bus it), catch a show ... er, did I mention gambling?

£4k can be done

lets say £1400 for flights, £700 for hotel and rest for spending money

s much as Mandalay is a nice hotel I wouldn't touch it because of the poor location, I reckon you can get the Bellagio in your budget

Grand Canyon is a must but make sure it's the South Rim and not the West Rim

Shows, Absinthe and Love would be my choices

Gun store is fun but you can spend money at a rapid rate :p

Just got back from week in Vegas on Sunday. Had an absolute fantastic time and I'm even thinking about when I'll be able to go back. :)

Stayed at Vdara which has a good location on the strip. Nice Bellagio fountain view on a high floor, and there is a direct walk way through to Bellagio. Some people said that a week was too long in Vegas but for me it wasn't enough - I could easily have had 10 days there to break it up and spend a rest day or afternoon by the pool. As it was we were up at around 10/11 most days, spent the day walking about and doing stuff, nap at about 5/6 for an hour, out for dinner at about 8 and then out until about 4am most nights!

I went out a few years ago and have been trying to get back ever since.

Stayed at the MGM Grand, really liked the hotel but suffers ever so slightly location-wise, might not be a problem depending on how you feel about walking. As a previous poster mentioned if your budget stretched to centre strip (Bellagio, Mirage, Paris) and you feel a need to be right in the centre of the action then that would probably be a good shout.

One thing to factor in is the resort fee that all hotels charge on top of their rate, some package sites will incoorperate it into the rate, most won't.

If you do end up going I recommend visits to Fremont Street and the Hoover Dam, did both, loved both.

Wtf how are hotels so cheap £274 (and that's not even cheapest room £124) for 7 nights in bellagio. Although there's an extra resort fee of $28 per night.
And if you don't mind a 3hr stop over in Minnesota £213 return flights.

Other than gambling, grand canyon, epic looking food and firing a 50cal sniper rifle, what else is there to do?

There's an EA sports game room thing in one of the hotels where you can play FIFA etc whilst the strip floods due to torrential rain. (Happened on my last day :p)

Would definitely recommend the gun store on tropicana I think, but lean forward and be ready before unleashing the 12 gauge shotgun :D

Hotels in Vegas are generally a very high standard and very reasonably priced. The main reason for this is because the hotels main business comes from the casino floor and the high profits from this allow the room rates to be very low.

Are you sure you've read things right? £213 for a return flight with 1 stop? That seems like a mistake.

Other things to do further to what you mentioned - great shows, shopping, desert quad biking, hire boat/ jet ski at lake mead, Death Valley trip, stratosphere roof plus other rides.

Just another tip, I found downtown Vegas/Fremont street a lot of fun. I think it's definitely worth a visit for a couple of nights - it's not as classy but the table limits are lower and the dealers tend to be more friendly. Had a great night on the craps there. The D also pays out 3/2 on Blackjack. ;)

During the week the prices of hotels are cheap, they shoot up on weekends though as Americans tend to go there for the weekend.

So, Vegas... Amazing.

Hotel wise, Planet Hollywood is good, Cosmo (expensive), Bellagio (good, but expensive), Caesars Palace and maybe Paris are the ones I'd consider. I tend to stay at PH as it's right where you want to be location wise (opposite Bellagio) and the rooms are big, but it's cheap. So this works for me.

When you're over there, the gun shop is great fun, go see a show as they are pretty spectacular. Last show I went to see was Absinthe, you can get VVIP tickets for £70~ each and they're well worth it. Absinthe is amazing, it's basically Cirque meets Rocky Horror show. Stunts are great and the humor is crude - contains very strong language, so if you're offended easily go watch O, if not, you'll enjoy it lots!

Hoover Dam / Canyon is worth a visit, make sure when you visit the canyon you go to the South Rim, the West Rim isn't actually a part of the Grand Canyon and the Native Americans will rip you off - the sky bridge for example is very expensive and they charge you to take pcitures. Make sure you go to the south rim - you can fly there and back within a day with ease. Or take a helicopter down.

Remember, you can drink over there for relatively little expensive. If you're playing a machine a girl will come over and offer you a drink (any drink, champagne, G&T, Lager etc) and will expect a tip, the more you tip them, the more they will come back - but it works out around 1$ a drink minimum, but make sure you're gambling. You can also take your drinks to other Casinos. If you're bored of one, pick your drink up, walk down the street (whilst still drinking) and walk into another Casino - this is fine in Vegas, completely fine.

You could take a trip to old vegas, which is at the bottom of the strip - it's a big trashy, but it's nice to see where Vegas started - I've had discussions with Rotty on this previously, I don't think the gambling is cheaper down there, he does... Go with Rotty, he pretty much lives in Vegas.
