Venables quits!

LOL, this is too funny :D Espeically the Reid bit above :D (that is Rob making a foo of himself not the potential appointment ;))

Having made the choice to stay I would have thought he would see it out till teh end of the season. Especially as now he isn't gonna be offered a better team to manage & could have gone somewhere with the bare bones of the Leeds team given some time. Tis a tad strange.

LOL

Just to make myself look daft they seem to have appointed Reid till the end of the season
humagaa I should have put some money on that :D

You have to admire my honesty, I could quite easily have gone back up and edited that bit out! :p

Like Ive said on the other thread, I dont think its a good long term appointment, Grays name was being banded about for a part time replacement and when I heard Reid mentioned (elsewhere) I guessed it was a long term thing

Reid could work wonders again in the First Division, but I dont think he could actually turn a club like Leeds around form the slump they are in to Champions League football. He has a big money complex, and hasnt fitted it with the big money world we are in.

The down turn in player transfer fees might actually help Reids career, as they money isnt there to throw around anymore. Hes a great motivator, but he could do with some help on the tactical side of things which makes me think, god help you if Bobby Saxton gets brought in too! The players wont know whats hit them! haha

I think my dad heard on the radio a few weeks ago that Wilkinson was being linked with Leeds again? A Leeds fan said something like "oh hell no please, I'd rather have ******".

**** = I don't know who hehe

That would be so funny.

It's going to be interesting to see how Peter Reid does for them though.

peter reid has been named leeds manager for the last 8 games of the season

how funny would it be if dirty leeds got relegated lmfao

I can't find mention of it in this thread so I thought I'd say that apparently Venables was sacked, he didn't quit..

RIDSDALE: TIME RIGHT TO SACK TEL

Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale has revealed he sacked Terry Venables because he believed a change was needed to improve the club's fortunes.

"Leeds United made the decision that the club needed a change. I sensed it was time and got the impression that Terry did as well." said Ridsdale.

Yeah I thought people claiming he'd walked were a bit over zealous. Particularly when Reid took over 4-5 hours later. He must have been lined up for the job.

Leeds are 5 point above relegation or something arnt they?
the run in they have doesnt leave tehm a lot of room for breaking a new manager in.
And would you REALLY want to swap west ham or bolton going down for Leeds?
Yes leeds are the dirtiest team in the league, but do we really want to trade that for the dull football bolton offer, and the complete pointless-ness of west ham?
No i believe we should start a campaign to SAVE leeds from relegation, starting by liverpool letting them win this weekend.

I think offhand they are 7 points clear atm.

Very bad move by Leeds (again) imo. As they sacked him won't the also have to give him a big pay off as well?

You're a Man Utd fan and you don't wanna see Leeds go down

(okay I know Afterlife is another one ;) )

I think the chances of them going down are very very remote indeed.. just look at the other candidates for the drop to see why. Sunderland & West Brom are gone. The other one will be Bolton or Birmingham I reckon. Or possibly West Ham. But Leeds.. can't see it myself.
