Verified by VISA [rant]

My VbV password is 9 characters long and works fine :p.

This depends on your bank. VbV password requirements (and other parts of the verification process, including how to reset password) are set by the issuer of the card. There are some banks that have an 8 character maximum and 6 character minimum, but they allow you to enter more characters than that in the box when creating the password with no indication that you've exceeded the maximum. Not sure if they've changed it at all now but it caused me some confusion in the past too.

Definitely sounds like you're having issues with Santander, not Visa - I've never had an issue with Visa myself, but the horror stories I've heard about Santander make this the much more likely source of your problems.

Sounds about right to me, have used vbv for years with no problem.

too true.

I have a Belgian visa card and it's fine I like the verified by visa.

Still looking around for another UK bank who will take me on.

:(

A different system of VbV is used over where I am which involves a one-time-pin sent to your registered mobile which is valid for 3-5 minutes depending on card service (Visa / Mastercard). Great idea, don't have to remember passwords, has provided many moments of entertainment as my wife has been running around cursing as she forgot where she put her mobile :D.

On the other hand we do not have chip and pin here at all and when paying over the counter most cashiers do not even check the signature strip on the card to see if there is an approximate match. I have seen a number of people walking around with unsigned visa cards . Maybe this is partly the result of harsher punishments if you get caught though as there seems to be a lot less 'publicly admitted' credit card fraud here.

I've had similar problems with moron companies who will not accept that my telephone number is 5 digits long, I've had to take my business elsewhere in the past because they would not accept my telephone number.

The only card I get issues with (and I still get issues with it since my first post in this thread) is a Barclay's card.

My Santander one is fine.

The only thing I don't like about VbV now is that rather than just asking for my password (like it used to), it's asking me for the 3rd, 8th and 11th characters...

Which results in me sitting there like a muppet counting out letters on my fingers!!

When it first came out I did have the occasional issue with passwords not being recognised, but this has since disappeared.

The main issue I had was Firefox and NoScript, if the site wasn’t added to the white list to start with it wouldn’t refresh properly, and I would have to go through it all over again.

Once I figured out what site needed to be added it’s been flawless and flawless for years.

I haven't had any real problems with it.
Though, last time I used it to buy a phone my bank blocked the transaction anyway because they thought it was fraudulent.

Obviously Lloyd's fault, not vbv.
