Hi Guys

I recently tried to claim the hibernation space back from my 60Gb Vertex2 and I think it failed during the process. I have now repalced it with http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-010-CR&groupid=701&catid=2104&subcat=

Am I ok using my win 7 OEM disc to reinstall windows and I had a second HDD in my last system can I just hook that up after I install windows on the SSD and if so will it be recognised by windows as it is with all my data as it was?

Cheers in advance

Hi :)

Are you sure the vertex2 doesn't work? Still, the M4 is a good choice and now you've got lots more space!

You should be able to reinstall yes, if you have the disk and key. Take the HDD out [well, unplug it]. Install on the SSD, then add the hard drive again and it'll all be as it was :)

I'm still messing with the Vertex but I can't get it to work in any of my pc's

I still have my win 7 disc and key I was just worried in case my HDD had to be reformatted for windows to pick it up (I had a hunch it wouldn't but was too scared to try it)

Should I get my Vertex working I'll add it as my WoW drive

Quick update

After messing around with my vertex it seems to be working now. I plugged it an old rig and messed with the socket on it and it now seems to be working ( it used to make a satisfying click when you plugged a data cable into it but that only happened the first couple of times).

Even though the drive seems to be working now I would still like to use the crucial as my boot drive. To erase windows windows from my vertex do I have to do a secure erase on it or can the drive be reformatted and the wow folder be copied across from my back up drive?

As suggested earlier I would like to update the firmware on the drive at the same time.

Sorry for bumping my old thread but I didn't want to start a new one when it's down to the original problem.

After having the problem with my Vertex I went out and bought a 256Gb Crucial M4. I installed as my main drive with no other drives connected and did a secure erase on the vertex.

Over the weekend I switched my pc on and was met with the " please select a boot drive" message. I rebooted and went into bios and my motherboard wasn't showing either SSD as an attached device. After several reboots it finally picked up my Crucial boot drive but it wasn't until the following day the it picked up the Vertex (wow drive).

After googling it it appears I'm not the only one but does anyone have any ideas and is this a slow degradation of my data ports?? They are both plugged into my 6Gb/s ports

I realise this now changed to a problem regarding the motherboard so please feel free to move it. Not sure it's relevant here now
