Vertex 3 Compression Question

I'm looking to pre-order a 120GB Vertex 3 now so I can hopefully get the order in before they're already out of stock!

Now I know these drives can only really achieve their maximum performance when dealing with uncompressed data.

My question is, when these drives deal with compressed files do they match up to an SSD that doesn't use compression for speed?

Thanks.

I've seem a few reviews that show 500+ read/write, but only on highly compressible files. I'm still a bit worried that these drives aren't going to perform as well as other SSDs that don't rely on compressible data for speed?

I used a C300 and a Vertex 2E. Never noticed any difference in everyday usage. Boot timer showed the 2E to boot 1 second quicker.

I kept the 2E as I perfer how the Vertex works..

Vertex 3 will be my next SSD..

I'm probably going to put an order in for a Vertex 3 240gb tomorrow, although this compression stuff has got me thinking.

I'll only be using it for OS (Win7), applications (Photoshop and Lightroom), and games. I'll also be using it for a temporary storage for RAW image files while working in Lightroom, once finished I'll move them off to my rotational disk.

I wonder how much of the OS/Apps/Games files are compressed?

The benchmarks on the net are all very impressive but how much speed increase over, say, an old Vertex 2 drive would we really see in day to day use like I've detailed?
