or another?

I need a new SSD. I am planning on putting this into a new Dell XPS 17 Laptop.

Uses: I mainly want this for work, I want this to be a snappy machine and reduce program loading times. The programs I run will be reading/writing a lot of data from/to text files. Also Virtual machines. Occasional gaming.

Which SSD and why? Will the Vertex 4 give me better performance for the above uses?

Thanks
Scotlad.

Sorry Scot, I have no idea really tbh. However, I WILL be getting a Vertex 4 on the 20th so WOO go vertex 4.

I'm thinking as the new boy in town, they'll be working on that one most, so firmware updates will only make it faster/ more reliable.

4 would be better. Still holding off a little as its brand new tech and the last time i held back paid off as i avoided most of the Sandforce firmware issues. Currently use the M4 and Vertex 3 as my main build drives.

Does the laptop support SATA 3?

If it only has a SATA 2 interface then in reality it's probably not going to make much difference what you get.
