Love the noise my MX5 makes when I nail it round to the redline, shame it's a bit too muted to be a "proper" sports car noise! New MX5parts exhaust ought to sort that without sounding like a Chav Corsa

And yes, windows up (or just the passenger one) at higher speeds greatly reduces wind buffeting. I'm sure more modern verts have better aerodynamics etc to aid this though :p

Talking of noise, -westy- and I were in my car yesterday, getting stuff for the Saab and every time we saw a tunnel/bridge we made sure the windows were down and roof open, then I gunned it through...unfortunately going under a bridge at 6000rpm in 3rd means the tunnel effect comes and goes rather quickly. ;) :(

Engine noise was always one of the Mazdas problems, however you can resolve this issue by fitting a supercharger!

K&N induction kit also gave a nice growl when WOT.

Still looks crap though, why buy a convertable if you don't like wind noise or tubulance, its just a pet hate I have as it totally ruins the look of the car to have the windows up, and those awful mesh wind deflector things yuk, if your scared of ruining you fancy hair do stick to a tin top

I bought an S2000 not a convertible

I don't even have aircon in my car, or a soft top, so I'm stuck with just putting the windows down on hot days. Of course that means when I drive down a lane or a narrow street I get to hear the lovely fluffy sound of my engine amplified back at me, so I am happy for now.

I always put both windows down just for fun :D

I miss blipping the throttle with my larani 'saust :(

I had the roof down on the Z4M today on the way home. An hour and a half of glorious sunshine and 22 degrees. Lovely.

Managed to hit 8000rpm through the underpass in Croydon too which always sounds better with the roof down and put a smile on my face that even with the rest of the crappy London traffic couldn't wipe off.

In first or second? Not third I hope ;-)

I drive with teh windows down in this weather and climate set to 19 until the interior has cooled off from the blistering heat then turn it off and stick my head out the window when safe to do so :D

Second - I think close to the redline it is about 60mph, which is already a little bit too quick for that piece of road. 3rd must be good for 100mph I reckon, which is way too fast to be flying through Croydon, even if the road was empty.
