Very concerned..

Whoa that is pretty scary  I think I would just lock everything up whilst I was sleeping and out the house...

To be honest this clearly sounds like it could be a ghost. I think you definitely need to give the Ghostbusters a ring.

How did he 'vanish'? You saw him in the corridor and chased him, there can't have been long for him to mysteriously disappear on the street?

Sorry but...the title OP drew me to this video

to be clear did you actually speak to the police ?

I would be very surprised indeed if they did not take this very seriously.

If you have not and are just assuming the police would not be bothered you deserve to get robbed for stupidity.

He was about 10m away when I got out of the house, it's possible he ran into the street that was left of the house and got into someone's garden. I ran a bit further But I could not see him.

About 10 minutes ago, something weird happened.

I was downstairs in the living room on my laptop when some guy entered our house through the backdoors and wandered in the kitchen then proceeded to leave through the front doors. I saw him in the corridor and ran after him yet he vanished away. My neighbour who was sitting in his front garden saw him too.

This leads me to think he tried to rob us, while it's still bright.

I have no idea what to do. I'm partially scared because now he knows our indoors and it could be anyone for any reason. I dont want to come back to the house one day to find all my stuff robbed. Or worse yet, battered in my sleep.

Anyone got any suggestions ? Alarm perhaps ?

probably trying to escape from the police ;)
criminals do it all the time its a almost 100% garunteed escape method aslong as the cops dont see you go in

As others have said; notify the police, maybe have some friends stay with you tonight, consider investing in security lights, CCTV, better locks, make sure all windows and doors are completely locked (not half locked).

I'm becoming increasingly worried about being burgled. I should probably take a bit more of my own advice.
