Very concerned..

I don't think its actually a crime to walk through someones home, strangely enough.

Burglary

Section 9(1)(a) Theft Act 1968

A person is guilty of burglary if he enters any building or part of a building as a trespasser with intent to steal, inflict grievous bodily harm or raping any person therein, or do unlawful damage to the building or anything in it.

Proving the intention is the difficult part if no theft, assault, rape or damage is caused, but it certainly could result in an arrest.

A breakdown of the various components of the above definition and Section 9(1)(b) Theft Act 1968 can be found at

i dont see what you can do apart from lock down the house and stay in for the foreseeable future. Get your home security sorted and dont let anyone in who might bum you.

Invite some friends round tonight possibly. And order an alarm, secure windows/locks, hide expensive items, and maybe order some CCTV (we have a range of CCTV on our website :)).
That's a bad 5UB. Very bad! You're not meant to try getting an easy sale from this kind of stuff. Bad 5UB!

Was he big?

We have had something similar happen about 10 years ago. A man randomly walked up our drive, down the side of our house, and through the back garden. He then climbed over our back fence, followed by my dad who was sprinting after him.

Quite funny at the time.

3 possible explanations:

1. It was a ghost.

2. He was re-enacting the chase scene from 80's classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

3. He was a robber who was hoping you were out.

If you can rule out 1 and 2, call the old bill - NOW!

Thanks for the suggestions.

Once again, backdoors were not locked because I was doing stuff today in the backgarden which involved getting out of the kitchen into the garden and going in multiple times and I just simply forgot to lock the doors when I went onto my laptop.
I will make sure they are locked at all times now.

I will also invest in a Alarm. And... well, I will not exactly say what it is, but let's say I'll be ready for him when he comes (If he does that is) :D

Paint cans hung from the bannisters? Micromachines at the bottom of the stairs? Heater on the doorknob?

You should really have reported it to the police imo, what if there's been more than one report of someone walking through peoples houses?

There might be more to it than it seems!

I'd report it to the police, only takes a few minutes and you never know if he'll try it again somewhere else and decide that woman home alone is fair game etc.
