They will record it and look out for further cases and may increase patrols in the area.
Police can very much do stuff. Especially if it happens a lot.

You should very much report it.

Once again, backdoors were not locked because I was doing stuff today in the backgarden which involved getting out of the kitchen into the garden and going in multiple times and I just simply forgot to lock the doors when I went onto my laptop.
I will make sure they are locked at all times now.

I will also invest in a Alarm. And... well, I will not exactly say what it is, but let's say I'll be ready for him when he comes (If he does that is) :D

No, the backdoor was left unlocked because you forgot. anything you were doing prior to that is just waffle to try and justify yourself.

Wtf, do you lock your house down when your in. You never leave the back door open when it stupidly hot in summer?
You don't need an excuse to leave doors unlocked when home.
 
phone the police , saying its ''pointless'' is just silly .you not doing so will probably end up with a neighbour who also doesn't lock doors getting burgled.

whereas if you phone the police they can do extra patrols/checks or can go door to door reminding neighbours not to leave doors/windows open . which obviously a lot of people do over summer and thiefs know it. why carry a crowbar tools when you can just walk in and help yourself
