I have never been to a festival where you have to camp (have just stayed up instead) but I have heard the music at festivals like V and Leeds fest gets turned off around 11pm.

A mate told me at Leeds fest there is a tent with music in that keeps going until around 4am. However I have heard off a mate who did V last year that there is no music in the camp ground either

What are you expected to do after 11pm when everyone is still wide awake? How much does a mini generator cost that could run some half decent sized speakers, or is there any other options?

There are plenty of things to do after the arena closes. Loads of people have stereos and stuff, Last time, i found a proper rave. These guys had spent the whole day stopping people from putting up their tents in this big circle so that at night they could use it as a mini arena. Was awesome!

er talk, play cards, read, drink, eat, copulate, sleep, listen to mp3 player, smoke pot, the options are limitless. Be a bit selfish to set up a mobile disco if there are people around you trying to kip.....

oh so just cos some ******'s whizzing their bits off on drugs and shouting and singing all night long, you should just put up with it?

I believe his point was that some people would perhaps appreciate some sleep as oppose to being disturbed by other festival-goers inability to be quiet after 2300.

what I mean is that it's each to their own, you may go and want to party all night but other people may not and it's not really fair on those people if you wanna be selfish and setup a mobile rave in the campsite.....

Their were some guys camping next to us at Beni that nearly drove us insane, they didn't sleep at all and just laughed and joked all night about how much stuff they'd taken. We tried to put up with it for a while as we didn't want to appear uptight but ended up telling them all to stfu.

At leeds there's a quiet campsite if you want to sleep or have a family, I think. But it's basically a weekend long party, just have fun, sleep in the mornings.

Honestly you're in a field with 20,000 drunken, smacked up party goers. I think expecting anything other than all night commotion is naive.

And no, i'm not one of them. i dont take drugs at festivals. I dont even drink.

At Download we had some people take portable stereos and play those in the camp sites at all hours of the night. There was no rules about this since you constantly got people yelling and stuff anyway.

Although someone did get told to stfu when they put Slipknot on at 7am -.-

oh dear, it's a sad state of affairs when people can't just go and enjoy the music without getting wasted. If I go to a festival, I go because I want to go and listen to a load of great bands, not to get rat-faced and miss the whole thing lying face down in a pool of vomit. Must be getting old.

True.
This year was my first festival, and I was surprised how sober I actually was. I took a crate of Carlsberg which lasted for 4 days, and had about 10 beers in the arena over all 4 days, then a couple of dodgy-ciggies in the afternoon.

Really just couldn't be bothered to get wasted, I was having too much of a fun time being social with people and enjoying the acts :D

exactly, we chose not to drink much alcohol at Beni as it was too hot anyway and didn't fancy the idea of getting dehydrated. Don't see the point in spending £200 on a ticket if all you're gonna do is get trashed, you can do that in town any night of they year and it'll cost you a lot less.

anyway dad rant over ;)

Have a bloody good time OP, I'd be joining you if my missus hadn't sold our tickets without asking me first.......:(

Like i said, I dont drink or get wasted. Doesn't make the facts any less true i'm afraid. Expecting people to be quiet is just going to make you more angry when they'r not, in my opinion. Just accept it before you go, or double check the people around you when you're putting up a tent. it's easy enough to spot the scallywags.

Dont get me wrong I love my sleep and like a good 9 hours during the week. But when i will be spending more than £300 and taking 2 days off work for 2 nights I expect to be not going to bed at 11pm or chilling out.

Mobile disco sounds great, anyone else going to V? I will be taking my poi (fire and glow) for some campsite safety fun! Do you think i will be allowed in the campsite with Kerosene? You must be - I could just say its for a bbq

Yeah loads of people were doing fire poi last time :) Make sure it's in a plastic bottle.

Chelmsford or Staffordshire?
