Views from a crane

Could you post a little info on what you learn on the course. I was a slinger signalman/Banksman for a tunnel outfit for a few years in Canada. Think i might give this a go.

DF, what kind of prerequisites are there for CITB training? Did you have any construction experience before you did the course? Very interested.

None, none. Some very little building experience in houses, but nothing of relevance and I'd never been on a construction site before, except when student friends and I used to trespass on them at night whilst in my late teens. Put it this way, I'd been on a few cranes before I started. :D

Oh right, that sounds like something I might like to look into then, really getting sick of working in IT after doing it for several years so I'm looking for a career change. Do you have any links I could look at? Would you be kind enough to tell me who you trained with so I can look them up online?

Thanks

Keep your personal jibes going, you mature man, post your special brand of vitriol in any thread where you see me if you like, but don't expect ever for it to be noticed by me, or you to be addressed again by me. You're on my ignore list now, which in all the time I've been on here has only been graced by two other members.

Exercising can be interesting. I haven't got any of the right sort of bars to do pull-ups from, so I position the back jib over the roof of the building we're making and hang over the side to do them. Bit dodgy, but it's only a 25' drop if I fall.

Here are a few photos I've taken, in case anyone's curious.

I'm guessing thats the pics? God only knows what happened in the thread though! :o

Why remove them all? Really interesting thread for me as it has only been 2 weeks since I phoned a local trainer to see about costs and so on.

Damn expensive, over 3k for all the certs + training.

how come deadly ferrets posts have all been reduced to ".." ??

And i was thinking it would have been higher up.

Id be usuless as a crane operator, i have no fear of heights but i find it hard to understand anyone on a walkie talkie :D
