Well, having played it for a couple of hours or so I can honestly say I'm rather enjoying it.
It's not great, but it's certainly not as average as the IGN review suggests (imo). I'd give it 7.5 or 8 out of 10. A little repetitive maybe, and it could use a little more ambient sound, but it kept me playing for a good 2-3 hours in the first sitting.
The gameplay style reminded me of the original Fable. Talk to various people dotted about the landscape and complete a mission for them etc. Free vikings dotted about the landscape to add them to your army and when you have met certain criteria you can kick off the big battle!
In the IGN review they mention a mission early on that forces you to sneak all the way round the inside of an enemy camp and that it's really frustrating...well, you don't and it isn't!. I went the quicker way (still inside the walls but I just went the quicker route) and I did it on the third attempt.
And you'll never get bored of those slo-mo finishing moves

Got mine on friday but havnt started it yet.. Might give it a go later today and try and get some of it done this week until i get condemened 2 on friday.

Good game but why does the lead character have to be mute again???
Giants are fun, takes ages
Just done second island, these sieges are good...but far too long.
LB +AA for taking down shaman poles btw, keep things off you with LT + A, you can hit the shaman while his poles are still up for more 'combo' points (blue things under health bar)

Completed, what an excellent game, noticed probably 2/3 graphical bugs, everything was was polished, noticed slight slowdown in big battles but nothing game breaking.
Only grip I have with the game is that the combat system isn't suited to mass battles, luckily there's only a few.
Quick-time events were few and far between (which is a good thing) and were easy enough to do first time.
Got 1000/1000 achievements, started a new game to get skulls in first city =p
8.5/10, well worth it.

1, 3 islands in all.
Thought it was a good game myself, really suprised me as I wasnt expecting much tbh.
