Vince's Ebay Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

13 boxes of toys sent out this morning and my benches and office have had a nice clean... it feels much less like being weighed down by a million things... it's good..

And it's listing day so we are testing and listing consoles!! All the ps5's be fixed!!

Do still need to send the mega cd as that is reserved for a regular so I'll ship that probably Monday.

Think I'll probably keep the slim and at least play astrobot that just turned up

A slim ruined already?? That owner didn’t waste much time!

Enjoying this thread a lot but no real reason to post aside to say, splendid work. Those game gears above put me right back when I worked at Software + in Chelmsford when they first came in and playing Sonic on them. Such a step up in the handheld world over the Gameboy. We never stocked the Lynx alas.

Yep. You have my full blessing. But I prefer concave sticks rather than domes. Nice understated colour scheme there :)

That being said, some subtle RGB lighting could also be interesting. Lordy knows the pad has a big enough battery for it!

Yea I wont be putting rgb in it but I will be putting in some new triggers, and depending on how sloppy the sticks are ill be either replacing them and sticking some anti drift / calibration pots on it and generally just making it work better... you can replace the face plates etc on the series 2 but shells arent particularly cheap... I think the blue face plate alone cost me about £10.

What on earth happened to that connector to need jumpering?
People tend to use pliers to disconnect the fan because YouTube tells them too, but instead of just gripping the part that is connected to the fan they grip the part that is connected to the motherboard and end up ripping the whole connector off. I've found the fan connector quite loose, so when i have had to take the fan out for cleaning i just grip the wires with my fingers and wiggle it from side to side.

Sometimes people are better leaving stuff well alone, and maybe asking someone who’s at least a tiny bit mechanically minded!

Fair enough. Something like the pic you posted above would be great.

As an aside I always felt the rumble packs in my v2 were underwhelming and I know it sounds a strange thing to say but they have always felt a bit
“breathless” and hollow sounding. Been like it since day 1. By comparison the rumble units in my Edge controller are far better.

Is there any way to make the rumble a bit “meatier” with the v2 controller?

The v2 has 4 motors and if they are all in and working correctly they should feel pretty good. The rumbles in the ps5 pads though are imo better. You can calibrate the elite rumble in software I think... I'm not 100 % but I'll check and have a play.

I did finish up the elite series 1 (just waiting on the low concave sticks to turn up) and when the rest of the parts get here we shall make a blue elite series 2.

Thinking about it I've spent way too much on that elite series 1 pad it had both pots, pot trim / anti drift, new face plate, new side trim, new l1,l2 r1,r2 ib fact all new buttons all round. Rear and battery cover are still original.
