virgin Atlantic lets male pilots and crew wear skirts to 'express their true identity'

I think the best bit about the Virgin Upper Class experience is when you arrive (to depart) at LHR in the chauffeur service and they pull into the circular entrance much like the Savoy. The big Mercedes swings around, one person opens the door, another takes your bags out of the boot and away, and another person greets you by name and walks you to the desk where another person is waiting for you with all of your tickets etc. printed and ready to handover. Five people (including the driver) for one passenger. Now that feels like luxury.

Also, we use a car service in LA that is so over the top. Gotta love a massive Chevy Suburban when it's just me and my little suitcase. If you get the 'right' driver you absolutely feel like a rockstar when he's 2ft taller in a suit, built like a brick ****house, carries your wheely case and escorts you out of the terminal at a quick march. Good fun.

Alas, having done that a few times with work I am travelling on my own dime in a couple of weeks. So Premium Economy it is :(

Need to stop draging the whole "trans" thing into people that happen to be gay.

I wasn't being that specific - the whole point was that people should be allowed to be who they are and wear whatever they want, I poster I replied to is an example of someone who cannot wrap their head around this way of thinking, and the Alan Turing example is the best one I have.

What if they want to wear just a thong? would that be ok?

Absolutely they can - that wouldn't be safe on an aircraft though.

The company can also have it's own dress codes - I'm in the military and we have our own too. If you want to be part of that organisation then you have to follow the dress rules - if the organisation allows you to choose anything to wear from their repertoire, then you should comfortable enough to do that and no-one should be sat there telling you that you can't, just because they have it engrained in their mind that a man CONNOT wear a skirt (for some unimaginable reason) but women can definitely wear trousers.

Kilts are fine though.

Be careful lads, Roar's on the hunt...

I was legit wearing a dress last night.

If roar will treat me well, take me on first class... He's got a chance!

Anything over 5 hours and I look for business class. Life is too short to being paying to be miserable.

I flew 8 hours on Virgin Atlantic economy; I suppose it depends on what you find miserable, but the chair was comfy, I had enough leg room, and they brought round 3 decent meals plus regular drinks. I thought it was good. It would just never be worth paying thousands of pounds extra to be treated like a VIP for a few hours to me unless money was no issue or my company was paying.

I've done 12 hours in economy several times and it's horrific. Even flying on military planes can be more comfortable as you can move around and sleep on cargo pallets etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'll never pay full price for these things and only when they're on sale etc. I've also spent a lot of time and effort working the BA air miles scheme so that reward flights are possible in premier cabins where you only pay taxes and fees. The best was a flight to Toronto - out in First class, return in Business for about £1500. You have to be flexible and do some searching but they are there, and I would recommend it as something for someone to try at least once in their life if they can.

The difference it makes when you get to your destination though is immeasurable.

I fly economy, I'm from Yorkshire afterall. If I could pay less and stand up I would.

Figures. If you can’t afford it don’t dream.

As for “woke” ban the word I say. It’s a great lazy excuse for some not to say “I don’t like the blacks/gays in that advert” they can just say “it’s too woke“. Make them say it out loud.

Objecting to an ideology of totalitarianism and irrational prejudices isn't an irrational prejudice. Your post is doubleplusgood Newspeak. But it's not the truth.
