Virgin Media Discussion Thread

My SH5 was due last Friday, not turned up yet though?
What does your Yodel notifications say? You should get an email and SMS from them (assuming those details were put in the VM request form) before delivery takes place with details on how to track and change the delivery. Although this is Yodel remember..

I recently renegotiated my contract for the 1gig Volt package with 02 Sim for £89 p/m and i've just had £26 (or something like that) taken from my account by O2. Is my Virgin bill going to be £63 or did the retentions guy I spoke to fail to mention that the package isn't £89 p/m total but is in fact £89 + £26 p/m?
No, the direct debits are now split so your VM will be ~£64. I believe your 02 sim was for £25 so that should add up to £89

Just had my 1gig VM installed today, SH5. Speedtest below.

Anyone got a Hub 5 that flashing green, apparently reading up it goes off in about three days a failure to update?

Seems to be working upgraded to 1gb dont have any issues.
Yeah mine was doing that for around 24hr. I powered off the hub for a bit and switched it back on, no longer flashing green

Virgin tried to charge me an extra £10 p/m for a "security package" without my consent.

I renegotiated my contract a few weeks ago and noticed yesterday that my bill was going to be £10 p/m more than I agreed to over the phone. I called them up and was told I was paying £10 p/m for a "security package" which surprised me as this was the first time I was hearing about it. No where in my contract do I see any reference to any such package.

And what exactly is this "security package" anyway? Do Virgin sell us insecure broadband unless we pay them £10 p/m to turn on the "secure" setting?

Surely it's not even legal to tack on extra charges to an agreed contract without consent or mention of it in said contract?

Its probably the software addon, some cheap AV/family SW download.

But yes if not listed in the terms they are wrong to charge it and should refund and compensate

Virgin's sales department seems like the wild west, you hear loads of stories of people getting order confirmations that aren't in the same ballpark as what was agreed on the phone.

Received the Hub 5 today. All seems to be working well, although went straight in to modem mode. Does anyone else’s show the 3.1 channels? I know the connection has both a 3.1 downstream and upstream, as it was showing on the Hub 4. Not seeing it on the Hub 5 though. Not sure if that’s just down to the software version not displaying it though. Currently on LG-RDK_3.18.30-2112.12

On the router status page on the Configuration tab it should say 3.1 on there and then under the Downstream and Upstream tabs it'll list all the channels being used.
