Dude, should have asked :)

I even walk up to police and ask wtf are they doing if I ever see them in my area. They won't eat you. Last time it was because someone reported my neighbours car as abandoned and they were knocking on their door and then sat there waiting while I was about to leave. So I walked up and asked what's up?? They told me and I said I see the car being used all the time and they left. I mean. Seemed so odd. What made me laugh was after they left my neighbour pops out and asks me what they wanted

Anyways, pretty sure it is community fibre laying the lines. We should have it soon. If you wait until they install mine I can refer you and we get £100 each :p

Lol, yeah.

Do Community Fibre use open reach then to for installing the cable network then?

Just got my letter through - Increasing my broadband charges from 1st May from £26pm to £33- a 27% increase. Rang to cancel my contract and they immediately agreed to cancel the price rise. It's just a try on !

Many thanks for getting back on this, this does look much better than anything VM can offer especially upload speed. Hopefully when my new 18 month contract runs out cityfibre will be installed in my area and it will goodbye to VM. It's about time I changed I've been with them since the beginning I would have left them when I moved from Manchester to Doncaster but VM offered the best speeds in the area I live.

I had the same problem last night as well

I wish I could get my ping that low

Anyone else’s BQM showing an increase in latency since 8pm?

Seen some on the VM community forums that look far worse. Mine is usually pretty flat, so wonder if it’s just a routing issue or whether something is borked in VM’s network again.
That looks like docsis (local node) style congestion, if its a routing issue, typically you would see the base line latency increase and the yellow (peak) less spiky. like johnno and @xb8browney graphs.

I can confirm my VM graph on Tuesday was fine.

I've just set up another monitor, And this one has given me another IP address. Different from the top Full red monitor. So will need a few hours to see if this changes things

@mattyg - same issue for me. Mine has been on and off intermittently for the last couple of weeks. Sorry no explanation but it's not just yours. I've been having a lot more broadband outages during the day as well. May be just a coincidence.

I think im on the preston exchange where your on the Manchester one. So I'd hope they aren't related, But jeez this is ****ing me off.

We've the full hit package. But it was really for convenience whilst doing the house up. We have sky so dont need the TV (only wanted it for BT sport) We dont use the Landline, I do use the Unlimited Sim and BB.

Thinking of cancelling them all and moving to their business BB and getting a 3 sim. Its only really for data and a 2nd incoming business line. At least with the business BB its easier to account for tax and the 12 hr fix time is better than a week so far, Plus i get the 4g fallover thingy too

All installed and up and running. Getting 545 down and 526 up connecting from my phone (Galaxy S21.) Haven't tried wired or my own kit hooked up yet. The Vodafone app on my phone also let me log in at last, shows all the correct details.

The install was as easy as I think it could have been from my side at least. Got a call from CityFibre yesterday asking to confirm the appointment was still on, and then a call this morning to tell me when they'd arrive. Two guys turned up exactly when they said they would. I knew they'd have to run the cable from the pole as they didn't dig up our street, and I didn't want cables running down the house so I wanted them to go straight up through the soffit, run the cable round the loft space behind the water tank then through the wall into my office (had a conversion and dormer built last year.) One guy went straight off to the pole to start connecting up, I spoke to the other guy who was going to do the indoor bit, he said they're only supposed to drill through walls unless they have a managers permission, but if I was happy to go up the ladder and drill it myself that was fine. He was ok to run the cable how I wanted as long as the loft floor was boarded (it is) and there's lighting (there is.) He took a look, said it was all good and went off to help the other guy. When he came back he said his manager was fine with going straight in the loft as long as he made a note on the order that I'd asked for it (fine by me.) Installed the ONT exactly where I wanted it (right next to the power socket and ethernet to the rest of the house,) pushed thecable through the trunking (didn't need the cable puller) then ran it round the loft to the hole. Even installed the wallbox inside rather the loft so they didn't have to attach to the soffit (saved them a bit of drilling at least) and left a couple of metres of extra cable on both sides rolled up so I can move the box around later if I decide I need to. Gave me a landline phone connector off the van just in case I wanted one (meh, don't use a landline but no harm in having it I guess.)

The only actual problem was the cable from the pole to the house - cause it broke - twice! They didn't have any more on the van long enough for the run so had to wait a bit for a longer run to arrive, so a case of third time lucky. ONT recognised the connection immediately, the guy said it can take about 30 mins for the router to update and connect, but only took about 10.

The wifi from the Vodafone box is much better than from the VM Hub5 too. The Hub 5 is in my lounge, can't get a signal to my dining room at the other end of the house, on the same floor (so I use my own router for wifi.) But the Vodafone box managed about 15meg to the dining room from almost the other end of the house and two floors up!

I called VM to cancel, their automated queueing offered a monthly discount of £3.50 for six months (lol) and the guy I spoke to didn't even try to persuade me to stay, but the call got cut off when he was looking up what my final bill should be. Called back and the second guy I got through to said the first guy hadn't put the cancellation through - hadn't even opened the account to edit it! When he asked why I was leaving and I told him my new package details, he offered to do 500meg for £40 because I'd been with them for 10 years. Nope, still not competitive. He actually booked the cancellation at least (though I will double check!)

Now all I have to do is hook up the Vodafone hub to my LAN and switch off the VM hub. Quite honestly, couldn't be happier :)

Wait City fibre and Vodafone are working together?

They have been for quite a while, Vodafone have been selling connections on the City Fibre network since at least late 2021 if not earlier.

First i've heard! Damn, Vodafone actually chucked a leaflet through my door for 500mbs line for £24 a month but people in my area were saying its abit hit and miss so i avoided it. Funnily enough, City Fibre is in Sheffield but it skirts around our estate for some reason!
