Virgin Media... who else just died?

Mine went down too.

Any news from VM as to why it happened? Not annoyed, I think this is the second time in several years of service that its stopped working randomly, on the whole had great uptime (even if it isn't at the speeds desired! :P ), just curious really as it was nationwide.

A light was flashing on my TV for most of the night, but no problems. Internet was dead to the world though, managed to get on someone elses unsecured wireless on my laptop and noticed a National Service outage at 11:03PM.

Fine this morning though :)

Net died for me last night as well, "online" light was constantly flashing on the CM till I gave up and went to bed, it did appear to be in sync, so I didn't imagine it was an issue with the wiring/exchange..

mine died at like 9.30pm last night, went to brush my teeth and when i came back it was gone. Weird thing was i came back to my uni house the night before drunk as a skunk and wanting to still beat idiots at COD4 and it wasnt working either.

The uni house is on sky which is what i found strange....might have to check if thats working yet, I thought i was single handedly bringing down the net!

Ours went down about 10.00 last night. Waited till 11.00 and still not back. It was all nice and fast again this morning. First outage of any significance since I have been with them. Must have been bad though as the premium rate support line was out of service

Mine was off all damn night. I'm getting a little bit sick of it now. The connection hangs every hour or so. I try to load a website and I get nothing, and I have to retry about four times before it'll work. That's not including the random disconnects every few days and now this.

Naturally, ringing them shows no faults with my modem or connection.

Mine messed about a few times last night. After the half hour loss it went off twice after that. I managed to get a good hour on COD4 360 though so i went to bed happy :p
I have to say though that i have been with them for years now & last nights outtage was my third in all that time. Always seems to happen when you want to game though or is it that i Always want to game.
All i kept thinking though was, Is it only me & what chance have i got of getting them out with new hardware before the crimbo break.

Well mines working this morning. Its not too bad, we've had this for about a year and a half and I think last night was the second outtage we've had and they dont seem to last long

aye, we've been with them for 7 years now and from memory apart from initial problems due to a dodgy modem (back in 2000), we've only had a couple of lengthy outages, and i think this is the first major one for a year or two :)

Went down from around 9:30 -> 4am~ or something here last night.

my bad.. came back @

Winnersh exchange. Modem was not getting DHCP offer according to logs, occasionaly got past that and stuck on waiting for TFTP

Think this is the worst outage since broken modem when we first signed up.

On average i'd say i have roughly 24hours (tops) of downtime a year?

Mine died (mid raid) and I couldnt get back on until this morning.

Ah well, gave me an oppertunity to sort out some other stuff and get a few quick FM2 races done.

TBH, Virgin/NTL have been great. This is probably the first time that ive seen this kind of outage.

Anyone on the Virgin ADSL service noticed an improvement in the service lately?

Pings are much better recently. Used to be 200-250 quite regularily off peak, but now even on overloaded BAMs they rarely exceed 100. Often they are now quite acceptable ~50-60 and even great ~20!

Still have some issues with their downstream at peak times, it does quite often slow down to below 1Mbit, however off peak I can't complain as I quite often get a solid 5Mbit now!
