Hmmm OpenDNS looks interesting, I can see the benefits for organisations but what use is it to us??

bypasses NTL's DNS servers which seem to be having trouble resolving USA domains at present.
Besides that, cos' to be honest I haven't had any problems for a long time?

They should be automatic, so if you decide to change back just set it back to "auto" or whatever the term they use on your set-up is. The router will retrieve them from your ISP. If you changed the settings just locally on your PC, again you can just change it back to auto and it should retrieve the DNS settings from the router.
Failing all of that, the settings you desire are a mere google away
Thanks for that. Might end up just keeping opendns though as it may be in my head but some sites do seem a little quicker.
