Vista 64 sluggish

I've got a similar problem with vista. My computer vendor says it's a problem with Vista and there's nothing they can do about it. Whilst games like Call of Duty:WaW run great, selecting things like a 5kb text file to copy & paste from a cd onto a Velociraptor drive (or Samsung F1, just causes major freezes. Quick Google search shows lots of people with the same problem. :)
 
The only thing I find slow on my system is transfering files via usb to my nokia phone, apart from the ridiculous traffic shaping on p2p from my isp.

It's not really the fact that it's IDE that slows it down, more the fact that it's an old 80GB drive. Getting a new Samsung or WD drive will make a big difference to your system - the new drives are a surprising amount faster.
