Hello all.

Trying to install vista on a new machine with a M2N-SLI Deluxe, 2GB Ram and 8800GT. I have a USB Logitec Mouse and standard keyboard attached.

Basically i go into the bios and tell it to boot from DVD drive, it boots from DVD fine and i enter language then product key fine, it does it's thing and then after the first reboot i leave it alone (as in dont click any key to boot from dvd again) but it just gives an error saying windows didnt load successfully and gives safe mode options, but cant go any further than this.

Is there a common problem that im missing here ?

Motherboard bios is at 1102 but i assume to get to 1320 i need a floppy disk but having read the site this update seems unrelated to vista ? I have aldo tried another DVD and both result in this problem.

I also attach this screen showing exactly where install gets to.

Right I had the same problem installing vista on my setup (A8N32). The fix for me was to download the latest “Nforce” drivers for my chipset on my XP dual boot (Or another PC) and attempt to install them. The installer will abort when it doesn’t detect Vista but XP. Then either burn the drivers onto a CDR or if you’re dual booting like me then the drivers will be accessible from Vista install.

Re-install vista again but this time even though it sees your hard drive or partition you want to install onto select add driver anyway (advanced options) and browse to the location of your downloaded drivers or CD and select the ini file for the drivers. Follow the directions though and it should detect your new Nforce PATA/SATA drivers and use them instead. Proceed with install as before. Hopefully this time it will complete like mine did.

Previously I downgraded the amount of ram installed, stripped out the Pc to basic hardware only and disabled USB as well and still it BSOD during installation. Six attempts later I tried the above method and Vista completed first time. The problem must be due to a buggy driver on the installation disks. In the end I had a boot menu with one XP and multiple Vista installation entries, which once Vista installed properly, got tidied up automatically to one “Previous version of Windows” and One “Microsoft Windows Vista”. This got edited using EasyBCD 1.7.1 to change boot time to 10 seconds, default version to XP and re-labelling of the XP to “Microsoft Windows XP Professional”.

Good luck.

Hello again. just got round to trying this.

I have put all of the drivers on a usb stick and when i click on load drivers it lists the network driver, pci driver and sata ide drvier, i click each one and then next as i have assumed you have to load each one individually ?

Also not sure if this is being done right as they are nvraid.inf files not .ini ?

Anyway i then remove the usb stick and click continue and vista does indeed extract the file much more slowly than before but it still dosent work :( its a £800 pound brick atm.

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I was on 24hr call yesterday and was out into the early hours of this morning.

All I needed was the SATA drivers. The rest can be installed later after the OS has been installed.
