Not that I am particularly worried about my vista score I am more just interested. All of my system gets 5.9. However my hard drive doesn't!? It's a Western Digital RE2 500GB with a 150gb partition and a 300 and something partition. For some reason I only seem to get 5.5?
Is this because of my partitioning of the drive? Or is there another reason? The HDD isn't in my primary sata port, could this have something to do with it?

Any help would be great!

8.9 ?, you mean 5.9 as currenty Vista only goes to 5.9 and will be raised to 6.3 sometime.

From what I read, most single 7200rpm HDD dont hit 5.9, Raptor 16MB's do, I would not take the Vista scores too seriously for real everyday use.

Hmm very strange. People with the same HDD as me are getting 5.9 yet I'm only getting 5.5...puzzling. Any ideas? Like I said I’ve not got it in the pri SATA port and also have 2 partitions. I’ve also overclocked my processor. I couldn't have changed something whilst doing that could I?
I guess it doesnt matter, it's just more of annoyance now because I might not be getting the full performance out of my drive.

Any ideas would be great!

Vista does slow down SATA HDD's until you set all Performance settings not to sleep etc for parts, and I turned of low disk warning and tick a extra box in Device Manager.

"How To Increase Your Vista Hard Drive Speed
Here’s a couple of simple tweaks that will significantly increase the speed of your Vista hard drive.

Enable Advanced Performance

* Click Start then Control Panel
* Open Device Manager
* Expand the Disk drives branch
* Double-click on your disk drive to open Device properties
* Click on the Policies tab
* Check Enable advanced performance
* Click Ok

Turn Off Low Disk Space Warning

* Open Registry Editor- Start Menu > Run > type regedit
* Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
* Right click on the right pane and select New Dword (32 bit) Value
* Enter NoLowDiskSpaceChecks and hit Enter
* Right click on the new Dword and click Modify
* Change the data to 1
* Click Ok "
