Vista Setup 'Installing Features'

Sorry, wasn't clear. Meant SATA drivers for the hard drive.

Do you have a spare IDE DVD drive though?

Give memtest a go too

iv got a spare IDE dvd drive. I've not tried memtest as I have 2 sticks of 2gb and tried an install one each of them. My harddrive is IDE so do I still need to get some SATA drivers for it? If so where can I get them.

If your HDD is wired up and configured as IDE, SATA drivers aren't needed.

Have you tried different leads connecting the HDD to the mobo? And a different port on the mobo?

Try the spare IDE DVD drive too, and only use 1 2GB stick.

I'd still try memtest, as I spent weeks fiddling with various hardware configs, only to find after running memtest that both sticks were duff!

I dont have any spare IDE leads to try. I'm trying an install with an IDE DVD drive now, but its painfully slow, no different than with SATA. I'll try the memtest next, but in failing that there isn't anything else that I can really do.

Just got off the phone to a guy who says to try a low level format or a Zero Fill. The only problem being these are executables inside the windows environment. Anyone know of a way to execute these from a pendrive on start up? I don't have a floppy drive.

Just got this message at the 'installing features'

"Windows cannot access the installation sources. Verify that the installation sources are accesible, and restart the installation"

???

Have had that message too - tried a different HDD and DVD drive but it didn't matter for me.

Have you tried a different HDD? Just to iron out it's not the HDD.

Have you run/made a memtest disc yet?

Been onto overclockers and they said to run a diagnostics on my harddrive but I have no idea how to do it. I have the diagnostics tool on my pen drive, but no idea how to get it to run

Do you have access to a CD burner?

If so, download Samsung's HDD diagnostic (HUTIL) and make a disc.

It's a bootable CD, so no OS needed.

I would still run memtest though too.
