Vodafone Iphone Tariffs Revealed

Problem is people just keep lapping them up so everyone just develops Apps for the iPhone and ignores all the other more technically competent phones

Dont feed the troll

Just another idiots that cant afford one, so takes out his frustration by trying to convince himself and others that its not worth it.

Its not worth it at all, the battery doesnt even last a day so its useless as a phone unless you dont use it.
Its horrendously overpriced but muppets keep buying them. I could afford one but why would I want to fork out a minimum of £40 a month plus £90 for a phone that does things worse than something I can get for free on a cheaper tariff? Its just madness tbh

Far too expensive for something that doesn't even have a dedicated keyboard imo, on screen keyboard is fun to use once in a while but awfully slow compared to using physical keys to type.

The data limits are very low compared to here too .

I dont think thats the case.
I pay £35 a month for my mobile contract (1200 mins, unlimited land line calls, 600 texts, and 500mb data) and I took that out on a I8910 when they were first released (and costing nearly £700 sim free).

The iphone is exceptionally poor value for what it is.

somebody who can afford a 5 series can afford an iphone. it's not exactly rich man's phone is it? if it were, there wouldnt be so many people with them.

you should really use your loaf first:o

Not in my experiance - im just as quick on my iphone as i am on my blackberry. Except when it's cold and im wearing gloves ;)

this is another odd statement - if i have the bluetooth and wifi on on my BB 8900, that doesnt last a day either. poor (or more acurately, disappointing but about average) battery life isnt exactly limited to the iphone.

No, its my experience as an end user without an iPhone. All sorts of random companies are developing free apps for the iPhone and not bothering with other handsets. Todays copy of Car magazine has a full page advert for the Parkers app, for example. Is it available for Symbian, WinMo or Android?

Nope.

Just iPhone.

Companies are just developing for the 'mass market' which is the iPhone, regardless of technical credibility. From a business perspective I can understand why - but it does mean that pretty much because all the sheep have an iPhone if you dont have an iPhone, you end up being without many useful apps.

Maybe a bit like the birth of Microsoft Windows... which OS got the best applications, the technically best or the one with the best marketing team?

I have no problems affording an iPhone if I wanted one  Last time I checked, as fundamentally flawed as the damn thing is, my launch day N97 was hardly a poverty priced handset.

Unfortunately, thats not the case with the iPhone. Its going to be the same deal for new and existing customers :(

Wrong, every renewal I've had I've got a better deal than you'd get from walking into the shop. I've been a customer for 5 years, they do what they can to get you to stay, I was also told on the phone in person by vodafone staff that existing customers would be given priority. My guess is the phone itself will be cheaper when upgrading seen as they iphone tarrifs are specific to the phone.

Wrong, I tried this yesterday after being a VF customer for 6 years. No budge on the price / contract. Was also told that pricing would be the same for new customers, even though they said that existing customers would be priority.

If that's the case I'm switching to Orange, where I have contacts. Was only holding out for Vodafone to see if it was a) cheaper and b) save the hassle of switching provider.

Just to give you an idea, I work for Vodafone (for the next 2 days!) and I'm taking my information from an internal communication that has gone out company wide.

Existing customers were supposed to be getting priority on stock, although it seems its just gone to First Come First Served from the preorder system we're using.

Handset cost, and tarriff cost will be exactly the same for New and Existing customers.

I'm sure there will be a very low percentage of cases where people will get 'special deals' because of some colossal balls up that has gone to director level, but I'd take it as gospel that as an existing customer you're going to get the same deal as a new customer.

On the flip side, am I being biased or are the Vodafone deals actually better on the iPhone? I'm loving the unlimited texts being built into the priceplan instead of as a bolt on with an extra charge.

Fair enough mate, just posting my experience from the past 5 years with Vodafone, I've always had some 'deal' when upgrading; the iPhone is obviously a special case.

Yeah, all Apple products seem to be like that.

I remember when I used to work on Oxford Street, I used to go all the way up and down Tottenham Court Road haggling over the price of electronics goods. When I wanted the iPod when they first came out, £400, no movement, in any of the stores.

Must admit I'm quite disappointed, especially after the promises of looking after existing customers also :(

Think I'm going to look at other options, poss the Storm 2 or the Satio? See if I can get a better deal. :(

ive just got the Satio and i love it, got it as a replacement for my n97, used to have a Iphone before that but just couldnt get on with it,

go with the Satio, its a great phone.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I wasn't sure if I wanted a break from Symbian that's all, I've had an N95 8GB and really wanted something different. I must admit I'm leaning towards the Satio though :)
