Currently just using Vent for playing Dirt 3, CoD, BC2 etc with friends.

The software itself is free but you'll have to pay for somewhere to host it. I host my own for 'free' on my dedi box but I'm paying a fair whack more than £2.50 per month for the box

It can be fine for a small number of players (maybe up to 5 or so) but any more than this and yeah, you should really be hosting it somewhere decent.

I host our TS3 server on my HP Proliant microserver.

But I have 14mb/s upload to cope

I use multiplay for my my mumble server, i'd tend to recommend mumble just because it is significantly cheaper due to being open source and quality/latency is good. But they do team speak etc as well
