Which voice comms do you prefer?

I've just set up a mumble server, its quite nice, quality wise its not noticeably different to TS3 tbh, they both sound exactly the same.....

the main differences that i can see are that mumble seems more hassle to get going from a host point of view and then once your in there its fine but the client doesn't seem to have the features that TS3 does.

As the title says, after being at i-40 with the guys we've decided to move from vent to mumble... i must say i am VERY impressed, the whole server has been set up and is working perfectly.

Come and join us, be great to see guys on there. Hold your mouse over admin and watch the picture appear... I'm also going to asign pic's to each room. It really is an amazing voice comm. Other amazing feature is you can have overlay on in game which will also show an avatar next to your name... To put it frank it simply p***es all over vent in everyway possible.

Any1 who is thinking of coming to I-series next April and doesn't have a clan to go with, this would be a great way to start.... as we're planning on going to i-42.

Response time for what sorry ?

Dont use push to talk on mine but im guessing what you mean. Its just like using the phone when we have 5 or 6 of us no lag and with decent bandwidth these days no issues.

Lag in communication. And yes, it is far worse on skype than on (e.g.) mumble.

Test it out properly if you don't believe it.
 
Never had lag on Skype it's just like using the phone when we use it. Very strange that your getting lag on it.
 
there is a fair bit of lag on it, if you run mumble + vent/skype you can hear the person speak on mumble then a second or so later they come through on the toher program.




It's just you only really notice it when the yell of "behind you" comes though after you died :p
 
why would you run more than one ts or vent with mumble at same time :confused:it will cause reverb same as people who dont use push to talk and leave open mikes :p . do you guys play cod 4 ? me and a few mates have gone away from old clan and looking for places to scrim and just game or just game with other people.

We all use push to talk and it's only once in while when we're using defrags mumble and have to hop on knubs vent to tell someone else to come play with us.


that and everyone has the same key to speak in both :p



Also headphones>speakers :p
 
I'll give this a whirl now if anyone is playing BC2 and is on it? Never used Mumble and been years since I've used vent and TS.
