Voice Notes - do you use them?

What you've just described is a telephone conversation, only with half the participants!

But not everyone can have a conversation at that specific time, so it is a conversation as and when appropriate.

Plus voice notes can be applied to group chats, indicating further reach, rather than a limited 1-1.

There was an article about this the other day

And it is an age thing

In the Uswitch survey, 37% of 18-34s say voice notes are their preference of communication. In comparison, only 1% of 35 to 54-year-olds prefer voice messages over a call.

No, they’re inconvenient and annoying. I’ve had friends try to use them and they usually get the picture after receiving paragraphs of text in response. My wife also went through a brief voice note phase and I just stopped replying because it was too hard to listen to them on work time. She said she was sending them because she was too busy to text, as if I had loads of time to listen.

This feels like it's come about more since wfh teams calls slay queen culture. Aka, it's a conversation but with just enough technology in the way to create the lag which makes it slightly unnatural, so everyone has to take a turn talking, and I want it destroyed.

This. Always this.

Use them EVERY day. Sometimes I take a step back and really appreciate where we are compared to trying to communicate with people 20 years ago. It's soooooo convenient, I love it
News flash, nobody listens to your mini podcasts :p

I often record two sides of a conversation, switching between me man yes voice and me woman yes voice and then I'll play them back on loudspeaker when I've forgotten what the content was and it feels like listening in to a wonderful conversation I had with you.

Not to sure if my mum knows what lol is yet, she always says something like "so and so up the road died the other day lol"

Same here. "Remember George at number 82? Well, his son's niece's friend's cousin has..."

Thank GOD my mum can't leave voice notes.

Edit: chap and no.

Wifey and daughter use them occasionally - doesn't bother me and sometimes fun to listen to.
