Voice Notes - do you use them?

No, I don’t. I don’t mind receiving them but it does mean I will only listen when appropriate which is less convenient than a quick text.

Also, the time it does become an issue is when driving, as CarPlay won’t play a voice note. It will, however read out a text.

I don't know them and no one I chat to uses them. However, a friend of my partner uses voice clips all the time and it does her head in.

Yes! Very handy! Gf won't use them and sits there writing paragraphs all the time!

No I don't use them and it irritates me when I receive them as I can't always listen to them easily.

Also, I think some people use them as a way to "trap" people into showing they have heard the message as, with a text message, you can normally view the message from the notification (unless its mental long) but it wont show that you have read it until you open the message in the actual app... But maybe that's just my paranoia


EDIT: Yes, I know you can turn read receipts off but then how would I know if they read mine and I need that validation <--- this might be sarcasm BTW

My brother is obsessed with using them so have ended up using them too with him and a couple others. He uses them with our 70 year old mum which never ends well.

I listen to them on 1.5x speed.

But this is the problem. If you spend 6 minutes wittering away in a voice note then you’re forcing the other person to spend 6 minutes listening to it.

If I’m commuting I’ll have headphones in and might consider listening to a voice note- but I’d damn well rather be catching up on my podcasts or music and reading a short WhatsApp/text instead. It’s a better use of my time. The whole voice note thing is attention seeking, it’s like “stop what you’re doing and listen to meeeeee”. Ugh.
